The Smash Bros Discussion Thread

"Pic of the day. Meta Knight returns! In the last game, he was pretty powerful, so this time we implemented a fatigue mechanic. When Meta Knight uses 10 sword slashes, he gets too tired to fight. A Maxim Tomato that can relieve it may spawn soon after, even with items off, but you have to rush to get it! Opponents can grab it too, and it...!"

"Too tired"
Sound like this mechanic confirms somebody

I wouldn't mind a Meta Knight rework, besides, didn't Sword Kirby get some cool new shit in Return to Dreamland?
Also, apparently more people want Medusa over Hades?
...
Da fuck?

Why Sakurai?

Sword Kirby got Link's Skyward Strike, that would be a cool thing - sword beams are lacking in Smash.

As for Medusa over Hades, I think it's that a lot of people haven't played KI:U and think she's the actual big bad. lel

Well Medusa WAS the original villain of Kid Icarus and the only major villain to appear in more than one game. But yeah when a character like Hades whose personality is so delightful that it pretty much paves over that, Medusa's really left with nothing else to support the idea of her being playable.

Well
She does Shoryuken the FUCK outta Hades at the very end of the game. That was bad ass. But that's about it.

I wouldn't mind a moveset rework to include a skyward strike of sorts with Meta Knight... Change that really bland side smash into a cool skyward slice ya know? And change that down air into a pile drive or somethin.

Easy change to Meta Knight to fix him:
New idle stance, forcing him to remove take off his cape whenever he needs to attack.
Sakurai should just hire me, legit.
Just change him into a stance character where he hides himself behind the cape and can choose to attack in multiple ways or simply dodge away.

Yeah, Medusa actually doesn't do that much.
Without giving away too much, she doesn't talk that much, she appears in a few chapters, then chapter 9 has her chattering a lot, boss fight.

But then Hades essentially steals the show, despite not being the focus of a lot of levels, he talks to you a lot, still does some things from time to time, and is the focus of two levels near the end of the game.
Not only that, a lot of his moves as a final boss look a lot like they could be special moves.

I think most of the people who are rooting for Medusa either
A. Want a female villain
B. Think Hades is too big (Could clearly shrink because God)
C. Think Hades is a spoiler
or D. Are keeping KI 1 in mind.

The corocoro images make me want to totally main Bowser and Link. Really badly. They look so cool in this game.

Easy change to Meta Knight to fix him:
No, you've got it all wrong.
What he needs to do is stand up in the top right corner of the map just sitting there looking all cool. And throw a sword at the ground, then wait for someone to pick it up.
If no one does he just sits there, staring.
You can attack him in this state of course.

Woah, I never noticed that the Ballad of the Goddess arrange fades from Orchestral in the first bit to rock soon after

That's pretty cool

"Pic of the day. If you manage to raise this Special Flag for long enough, an additional KO count will be added to your score in a time match, or you'll get an extra stock for a stock match. When this appears on the stage, the fight for the flag becomes a fierce battle of tactics, which makes things pretty interesting."

Holy smokes, Pac-Man...

Yea that's getting turned off as soon as I turn on the game.

Also what is going on, why are PotD's so early this week?

Woah.
What?
I-
was not expecting that.
Well there go my hopes that it was a Namco specific Assist Trophy and that Valkyrie might be in this game because of it.

...Huh.
So that's what the flag does, and it's nothing anyone expected.
That's...kinda OP though, holy shit.

It almost reminds me of the Medusa's Head weapon from PSASBR.
The only item in that game that I actually disliked.
Cause it was kinda stupid.

The S Flag is basically a smash ball. As soon as it appears the match stops being a match and starts being a chase for the shiny item. Only with this you don't even have to aim a final smash, you just automatically get 1 stock up on everyone else.

At least it'll be fun for weird stipulation matches.

Interesting. I can see this being a rare item, and judging from the Pac Man trailer you have to hold it above your head for a long time, longer than most. It could be balanced if it's like, you get hit with it ONCE and it's gone.
