I'd say get hyped but honestly I'm burnt out on SF games. Maybe some people here will care more.

Never been that interested in SF myself, but I might keep my eyes on this one just in case it does.

C'mon guys . . . needs more Q. And Oro with high-resolution OLD MAN shaders to make him look EXTRA OLD.

And those platform announcements? At first I was like "exclusive on PS4? aw man" then I saw the PC notice so "I'm ok with this."

Now we just need to see if the game is good, right?

Omg they gave Ryu eyelashes and liver spots! #NEXTGEN

I honestly hope for a 3f reversal window with no input buffer (Same as 3S IIRC), that's all.

Looks pretty, I wanna see more models. Full trailer on Capcom Cup?

Being PC and PS4 only, Shoryuken suspects this trailer was meant for a PlayStation Experience reveal this weekend.

They look like a minor move away from the Daigo Ikeno (character designer for IV) art style. Chun-Li and Ryu still have that tweaked-proportions look and Ryu's tatsumaki has the ink wash trail from SFIV. Can't judge too harshly since the game may be in early alpha stage, but I hope they try something with more visual impact/difference.

I'm gonna have to try this myself at locals extensively before I buy a copy of this. I really, REALLY don't want to give Capcom any more of my money unless they really, REALLY deserve it.

I love how the only gameplay-relevant post aside from "Please return character X" (which is entirely meaningless and essentially a graphics request..) is this
I honestly hope for a 3f reversal window with no input buffer (Same as 3S IIRC), that's all.
Which is kinda awful

When's people caring about things such as "I hope AAs and walkspeed are good"
Or even, as a start: "I hope the game is well made" (ha-ha, it won't happen)

I disagree with the idea that character requests = graphics request (though it could be in some situations). It's more of a request for certain playstyles to be made available in the cast and for there to be a general system that makes that playstyle possible.

I'll keep an eye on this, but if it continues the oversaturation of 1-frame link combos of SF4, I will probably skip it.

Edit: Wait, PS4 and PC only? Wow, I'm rather surprised!

This may have been faulty logic, but I assumed that Killer Instinct's Xbox One exclusivity AND being a launch title was an indicator that Microsoft was going to try to do what they could to get fighting games onto their home console.

Welp, if this game turns out well, it might actually be the title that pushes me to finally get a PS4.

If you compare SF2 Ryu with SF3 Ryu with SF4 Ryu with SFxT Ryu (or funnier, with Versus Series Ryu) you will notice that this doesn't exactly stay true

Just please don't do fucking 6 iterations of the same game.
Vanilla
SDE
SQG
BB
Fukua
Eliza
+Beo
+maybe Robo
+maybe some Patch in the future that Mike bleeds by himself

I don't think this hurt SG in any way

I think he meant having to pay for 6 iterations of SF

Ouuu, you're quick. Yeah that was basically my point.

Ultra Super Street Fighter V Plus R + Alpha Hyper Edition pls. (Love how many times that joke has been done, and I still love it)

this joke has been going on for over 4 years, let it die man. Let it die.

I don't think the pricepoint really mattters, given that one plays fighting games for 1000h+
They'll pretty much always be dirt cheap unless Capcom decides to ask for a monthly subscriptionNot giving you any ideas here Capcom, forget it

I hope they atleast put in the driver when it is finished so that PC sticks and stuff work on it

Speaking of PC, how's the netcode for Ultra? Most of the steam reviews complain how broken it is.

I wonder how much the experiments in SFIV: Omega and the Tekken x Street Fighter (not the reverse that came out 2 years ago) projects will influence SFV.

Ryu looks gross:

Weathered clothing is a nice detail, but I think they crossed the line from seasoned world traveller to scum-crusted hobo.

I wonder at whether last gen sticks will work with the pc version...

If all else fails I'll use joyto key but...bleh.

Um, i wasn't too impressed paying 20 dollars for copy paste characters, with copy paste stages and a new character which basically was a ridiculous ton of reused assets.

I'd like to get a bang for buck

This. Right here. Hell, why not make 2-3 frame links more lenient so we don't have to plink anymore? Also, why not allow us to extend combos using EX moves rather than have us learn FADC combos, because trying to learn those has physically caused me to hurt my hands bad.

How many $40 games do you play that last you 6months up to 10 years?

To make this simple; Ultra has had
- SF4: $40
- Super: Let's say another $40
- AE: $20 or somesuch
- v2012: Free
- Ultra: $20 or somesuch
For a total of ~$120

.. and has lived since 2008; it is now !over 6 years! alive and kicking
If you think that is not "a bang for buck", that means [120/40 = 3; 6/3 = 2;] ..
You expect every 40$ game you buy to provide you significantly more than 2 years of fun.

What about that RPG you complete after 2 months, complete a second time, then never touch again? 3-4 months.
What about that Puzzle game you buy on your phone for 5$ and play for a month, before you forget about it? That'd be 8 months at full price.
What about going to a movie, which is like $10 for 3 hours lel
etc

Fact of the matter is, for a "normal" game, 100-200h played are an exceptional load.
For a fighting game, 500-1000h is more of an average amount.
As such, clearly, asking for 3x the price isn't grasped out of thin air

Could they do it for less, and/or manage their money better, and/or try harder in making a good game? Probably, yeah.
But it's still not like $120 over the stretch of 6 years is any amount of money for something you enjoy.

Better that than being stuck in a broken Marvel hell.
Yeah but if that was the case they would've just stuck with Super SFIV

I just hope it will go the path of SF3 and go wild instead of the path of SF4 and go full-nostalgia once more.

My hope is rather low on this

Something to keep in mind throughout all this is that Capcom is in dire straits in regards to money right now. They're probably going to take the safe option of bringing back fan favorites from older games rather than risk too many newcomers because they have to make some money. Of course they're going to have newcomers, it would be rather silly if they didn't, but don't expect too many of them.

Same thing in regards to gameplay mechanics. As dumb as they are, comeback mechanics tend to help convince newbies to try the game and feel better about their skill, for better or for worse, so expect them to be put in some way too.

Well, i get your point, but it's also in good part because Capcom stopped taking risks that they are having a hard time now. It took a long time for me to try SF4(the second version, don't remember the official name), and was shocked by how much the ratio of new character vs old character was, i almost felt ripped that day. It wasn't a bad game, but i was disapointed.

Here's if they go fifty fifty, no problem. I just heavily doubt that!

can somebody drag out the sf series character popularity survey from way back? might be helpful.

And doesn't Mike know haunts or combofiend? would certainly help with the drivers thing.
