Just make her permanent space the center of the bottom row with two other characters on either side. So it stays "hidden" but the layout maintains the symmetry it was always going to have.

Not really a fan of the invisible icon myself, but I guess the homage makes it not all bad.

I don't like the bubbles.

It just bothers me, period. I'd rather her just have an icon...

I respectfully disagree, the bubbles are cool.

It's not new (just palette swapped), therefore it is automatically bad! /sarcasm

I just don't want there to be people that play not knowing there's an additional character. Even an all black square would be better since that will at least let people know it's "something" there.

My evidence would be the Skullgirls twitter and the couple of posts in Fukua threads. There's people that exist that don't check the patch notes on Steam or twitter/facebook or here. They saw her Tuesday and Wednesday and now they may think she's gone.

She looks like she's dying or something, like her life force is breaking away in the form of bubbles. They don't really fit. Double has little things falling off her, but it fits with her design and looks like it should be there. It's fine if you like it, but to me it feels like in other fighting games when they give a character explosions or fireballs or whatever for no reason that fits with anything about the character or their story/background. I hope she gets a different effect at some point.

That actually sounds right for her. Unstable clone possessed by two different souls and all that.

Even if her icon remains hidden, I think she'll still be getting her own portrait art. Mike said she'd be get something for the loading screen, even if he had to do it himself.

One of the few reasons I like it is because of Alpha-152 and Phase 4 for DoA. Mainly because I main Alpha.

I would need story bits that say she's dying for it to sit well with me. Cause... I mean, when you see characters have bubbles breaking off of them, they're in danger of dying relatively immediately. But Fukua seems just dandy. Her idle is the most chill out of the whole cast.

Something coming off her is something I would be able to like, I just don't like these bubbles in the way that they are done.

Alpha has a mist of some sort radiating off of her... but the only reason she died is because Kasumi killed her. I don't see how the bubbles make it seem like she's dying.

He has a predetermined explanation of a character surrounded by bubbles and doesn't want to change it.

Oh. I see. Well, I don't wanna change the subject from her staying in the game to her and bubbles... so I'll just stop right here.

When characters in games and animes and what not have little bits of light whisp-y things coming off of them, they're usually dying. Characters I can remember right now are Tidus from FFX and Kikyo from Inuyasha.

The topic just last page was her bubbles.

I know, but I have a bad habit of derailing things to the extreme.

But, the symmetry... It'll be ruined if her icon isn't there!

It will be secretly symmetric.

Another specific example I remember is Senna from the Bleach movie.

But floaty bits can also represent another thing...

They defintely could, I guess. Bubbles signifying power is usually only used when charging, or holding a charge (Like Megaman). We could always go that extra mile and make her a charge character.

plus doesn't Fukua also have like, 2 souls? once could say that the floaty bits are the residual energy of the two souls in one body.

They could totally be that. But... I would need to hear that that's that from Lab Zero people when they decide if she's real or not, and if she's getting any story. Right now she just has bubbles.

Maybe I should put up a Fukua bubble headcanon in the weird headcanon thread.

Seems appropriate. Go now, while your bubbles of inspiration are still floating!

Also, if the bubbles turn out to be from her second soul, they should disappear during her super with the double, shouldn't they?

Someone on IRC said make the bubbles into little hearts to fit her moves theme. Love and friendship!

I like you.

I like the bubbles, they're effective at making a difference without being MUGEN levels of gaudy like lightning or some tacky DBZ aura.

I also want Fukua to stay because she stops the post-DLC roster count from stopping at 13. I hate odd numbered rosters for some reason.

Has anyone mentioned that Fukua is single singlehandedly saving Skullgirls' future? I mean... who really expects us to get more Skullgirls content in the future when #SkullgirlsCurse jumps into overdrive with a character count of exactly 13?
