USA [Dec 6, 2013] Northeast Championships 14 (NEC) (Philadelphia, PA)

Yeah, I probably should have gone the actual tournament day instead of just the day before. Ended up way oversleeping, was exhausted for some reason. The diner pictures solidified my regret. :(

As my first time competing in and attending anything FGC related, just wanted to say that you guys made it awesome and have me looking forward to the next one. The SG community is fantastic and everyone I met there was damn cool. It was great having a chance to meet all you guys offline and I wish I could have stayed later and played some more casuals (the weather had other ideas).

Big shutouts to Medic and Kenin for letting me use their sticks, and Icky for hanging around when we couldn't find anyone else; huge apologies for my stick being crap and holding things up, but thanks to everyone for taking it in stride.

Can't wait for the next event!

I'm sorry I wasn't able to say this at the time, I have trouble talking in person and this felt important to say so I didn't want to mess it up (and others get to hear it).

Thank you everyone. Thank you for everything you have done for me, in person and online. Not just for helping me personally when I needed it (you guys gave 120 in that Solobella tourney, for which you can't possibly imagine how appreciative I am), but for also being part of what makes me love this community. I know people have drama and whatever, but at the end of the day this community has kept me excited and feeling good about playing the same game for close to two years now (more, if you count me being here since pre-release). I don't know how many of you know this, but Skullgirls is the first fighting game I've been serious about playing and whose community I've participated in. And I just want everyone to know that I couldn't possibly have had a better first fighting game community experience than Skullgirls. I would turn down all the locals and majors that SF4 gets if it meant not being a part of this community (which I basically already do, lol).

I hope that all came out right. I'm not good at saying thank you, it's hard to do, especially in person to a crowd, but I hope I got the message across right.

Broseidon Rex: Sorry for stepping on your foot, was good playing Smash 64 with you, and falling for the same thing against you multiple times in Skullgirls. Sorry you missed out on the Dick Squad story. I'm not SonicFox, and I promise I didn't tell you that!

ShadeMoneh: Thanks for bringing Smash 64, since I certainly couldn't have won any Skullgirls matches all night. Thanks for the Dick Squad story. Now I finally know! We only played Smash 64, not Skullgirls. :(

Alright I'm home and I just drove like 400 miles and I'm not really inna mood to upload match footage? I can get on that tomorrow though. I did check real quick to make sure they are in fact on my computer and are watchable and stuff, just a matter of sitting down with VirtualDub and cutting it all up but fuuuuuuuuuck thaaaaaaaat riiiiiiiiiiight noooooooooooow. Tomorrow.

I also sort of want to write a shoutouts post but again I feel like I have no energy to do anything right now so that'll happen some other time. The short version of it is I love all of you.

Half of it was because it was funnier to play dumb (a running theme throughout dinner), and the other half is that I heard the name but hadn't listened to his music because of reasons. Given that I just recently caught up with Luchini and Lupe Fiasco, Khalifa's next on my list of artists to enjoy.

Off the bat, I want to thank every single one of you for attending this event. It means the world to me that we are all willing to put in so much time and effort into a game, and no matter how "hype" or "big" we are, we can still come out and show people that we AREN'T DEAD, we AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE, and we BRING THE FUCKING HYPE.

Everyone of you played a part at NEC and I can't thank you enough, this was easily the most entries we ever got at a Philly event and I am forever grateful. If I did the S/O person by person we'd be here all day. So I'll do specific small shoutouts, sorry for the people I leave out, I love all of you and am just appreciative as the ones listed.

McPeanuts: I can't thank you enough, for running the bracket for me. It really meant a lot that you were so willing to do. My voice was gone and I felt like garbage so thank you so much for running, AND recording the event. Means the world. You're the best.

Hops N' Kitty: It was an honor to meet the both of you, both of you are wonderful people and I'm very glad you guys had a good time. I really hope the drive was worth it for you guys and I really hope this weekend gave you memories that can live on forever.

Shout outs to everyone who came. There were a lot more new faces at this one than any major in recent memory. For those of you for whom NEC was your first major, thanks for coming out, I hope you had a good time. This is the first time I've tried to run a tournament this large, big thanks to @keninblack for helping me out with it.

Shout outs to @winnie for winning the Bella Ball tournament, the only tournament that mattered. Shout outs to @dekillsage for willing the solobella tournament, the other only tournament that mattered. @keninblack.... better luck next year. At least you won the singles tournament, which hopefully provides you with some small amount of solace.

Shout outs to Kitty for bringing brownies/bagels/cupcakes, MVP of the tournament. Shout outs to whoever brought vodka, runner up for MVP. Shout outs to @Hopscawtch for winning Best Actor in American Beauty. I also really REALLY want to thank you for being the person who's been streaming skullgirls for us for so long. I don't know if you know this, but your stream gave me the chance to interact and get to know many people in the SG community, and without you I don't know if I would have ever been interested in coming to this event, and the same is probably for others as well.

Despite the waiting for 80 years just to get destroyed instantly at KoF, it was an entertaining experience. Shame we missed Top 8 since they did it right after pools despite them saying it was supposed to be on Sunday.

By the way, they guy on the pad with us was Natezer. He had a skullheart before the site crashed, but he won't make a new one despite how much I bug him haha.

And of course it was awesome meeting you, Chief Raises The Horns!

@Everybody who showed up to NEC: This is because I dont really know anybody else's usernames yet they were really fun during casuals! Shoutouts to the guy that played me and was there to see that glitch on SG LOL! That was weird af. I hope we can all play again and we get more and more entrants as this game gets more and more hype. NEC was just the start, we will definitely do bigger as we move on and on. I love supporting this game just as much as you guys, and I am happy to be around such awesome players! Good games to everyone and may SG live on! Just dont get salty if you get zidained by a Cerebella.
