Eliza Setups and Tech Thread!

I wish you couldn't tech throws during stagger so that things like this would be cooler in real matches because I know no one techs throws during stagger but they will. They will one day.
Pffffft, please... one time I was fighting some online and they had Val's grab assist, I teched the shit out of that assist like three times. people need to have their eyes open when playing.

You can tech assist throws aye. pretty bad ass. You can also tech throws off of stagger, and you can tech Painwheel's tag in attack if it is used to extend a combo.

Btw is ADC j.lk still overhead? Should be since getting in with her is limited...

Anyways fast falling with grab is SUPER great for mixups. And in fact I do it with Val all the time and fool all da boys. That's why my Val is pro.

Throw is the ultimate mixup in this game. Everyone forgets that f+hp isn't the correct tech button
 
ADC j lk is an overhead yes. j lk is just not an overhead in the first few frames of the jump. Also I think its worth noting that Eliza can do a vortex similar to Filia.

I haven't seen anyone post about this... I was trying out follow-ups to DPx3->jc->whatever when I accidentally found out you can jump cancel the DP into any other special by using a tiger knee input (D,DF,F,UF). The only practical application I've found so far is in a corner combo, jc into QCFmk for a really high ground bounce. You guys are more creative than me, so have at it.

Yep, Woofly does that. He also otgs with upperkhat (H) and tk to osiris spiral (L).

I'm way too mesmerized by his Squigly!
 
A really dirty cross-up with follow up mix-ups that works on everyone except BB and Double
 
Gonna keep this thread around instead of remaking it since it's not inflated and no idea if anything doesn't work anymore yet.

Something I came up with. I'll work out better ones, but this has worked out alright for me.

The jab combos, and so the assist will either keep them in blockstun for the mixup, or you can combo off it hitting (if they hit a button).

Another thing you can do is bring a grab assist to cover different options.

Edit: If you land the j.HP but land it high up (so it won't have enough hitstun to combo out of), then fastfall with j.HK. I almost always press it now since it also allows for a consistent air hitconfirm directly into cr.MK so you can skip out on the cr.LK.

Idea #2 Here:

First off I just wanna say that I'm aware the BnB I'm using has a restand and that it's good for resets. It's just that restands are painfully obvious to see coming, so I like to have a couple threats ready before that point. Another interesting point is your frame advantage after qcb+lk. You have enough to actually go for a mixup after that (but you'll probably have lots of Undizzy built up at this point).

As for the video, it's a continuation of the first idea. I'm just seeing what I like now and looking for your input. I've also been getting a ton of mileage out of BB's grab assist.


I like this because your assist turns into a mixup depending on what time you air dash. I've had trouble getting the restand like I did with the first video, but I'm pretty sure it's possible...or you can just OTG into the restand portion of the BnB i'm using for another reset opportunity.

A nice reset I found with Eliza. The timing on the initial c.HP cross-under thing is kinda hard but at least it works on everyone.
 
Seems to me like Eliza's c.MP (sphinx) is currently criminally underused, and is actually pretty damn good with a lot of advantages over the standard c.MK that people are doing.

c.MP (x2) is the safest medium Eliza has AND the only one that can be plus on block, it is spacing dependent with -5 at point-blank and up to +6 at max range. Meaning that after a well-spaced c.MK (x2), you have complete freedom in doing whatever the hell you want while still being pretty safe. Including going for airdash j.lk instant overheads (I love this).

Oh, and it's also a low and hit-confirms into almost anything that c.MK does, although comboing after the second hit is a bit tighter on the timing.
 
c.mk is used more than c.mp for a few reasons. c.mk is easier to confirm off of, makes it easier to hit the light spiral, and makes it waaaaay easier to land her BnB on heavies.
 
i always use cr.MP (1) for hit confirms and then cr.mk inside of combos. you are gonna have to cancel cr.mk confirm into something else anyway if they block it since it is so unsafe.
 
I use 2MP as my hitconfirm all the time. I can just go 2MP > MP if I confirm blocking fast enough.
 
one reset ive been messing about with a bit is after cr.HP, you go for butchers blade as they are coming down into the axe move, then recall.

the butcher blade crosses them up and the axe bounces them back towards you with just enough time for a cr.HK.

you can just go straight to the axe but it only works on certain characters consistently so i just use the M for the cross up instead. crazy unsafe if they block it though lol.

Instead of butcher's blade, do LP Sekhmet and tap LP on whiff to autocorrect. Uses less meter, works against everyone and goes low so you can't see Sekhmet on screen.
 
I just found out Sekhmet can tech throws. Is that suppose to happen?

Sorry I can't record but what i can tell you is that as long as sekhmet is at neutral, she can tech throws. This lead me to find that if you hit with the edge of sekhmets attacks, you can't be thrown because you are out of throw range and will recover in the time it takes them to dash up and grab you allowing you to tech. This works best with butcher's blade since it naturally pushes the opponent away on block so it's actually pretty safe. I haven't tested any of this on Big band's enormous grab, so he may be an exception. Also Bella can't diamond drop or MGR you but she still can showstopper.
 
This should be kind of common knowledge among Eliza players, but I constantly have people tell me j.LK at close range is useless because of whiffing, so I put this together rather sloppy without practice/rehearsal.

Might need to turn up the audio to hear me clearer, I sound kind of muffled because I was trying to avoid waking someone napping :X

lol im not implying anything, it really was just a good video that also happened to work as an asmr trigger, sorry if it came out the wrong way.
 
Anyone got any good "safe pressure" setups with Pillar or LnL assists?

I've been trying call Pillar + jump, block, and hit a button after the restand when I confirm something as something to do when I suspect a possible reversal but am not confident in that read as safe pressure, but it seems really vulnerable to "defender hits a normal and stuffs Pillar during that 2F vulnerable window" or other bullshit, and even when they do block the assist, just seems to give them an easy pushblock.
 
A Sekhmet burst bait that I came up with that might be already known, but whatever.


If you don't have meter to go into LoS, you can end with s.HK like I did for Scarlet Ladies/oki.

Atm they works on peacock, not on parasoul and not on beowulf since they get hit by cr HK, damned long legs xP

It doesn't works on Parasoul, Big Band, Double, Beowulf, Cerebella
