It looks like she's supposed to be surfing on her own blood. I hope that's the case.

Me too. Considering that we should have some form of playable Eliza by the summer, I feel this is appropriate.

Damnit, Zen. Now I want Eliza to have a skateboard command dash. Either that or a surfboard on a wave of blood.
 
Eliza did get a lot of artwork but almost nothing (if not nothing at all) in terms of move concepts.

She has the most concept art, they just havn't posted any yet. You should bug Ravi to post a handful for her like they did with Big Band.

She's depicted as a lioness in ancient Egyptian art.

And was also given the title (among others) of "She Who Mauls", which has gotta be one of the most badass titles ever given to anyone.

depends on how they do it, if Sek can only use punches and Eliza kicks and have a special that changes for during combos or something, but they will probably take a lot more time

I hope she plays a lot like A.B.A.
 
Liking the reveal, hmm I wonder if the bone "ears" on top of Sekh's head are visible on Eliza if one were to take a closer look? Though I highly doubt us peasants would be allowed to get that near her hah. I really am curious to see more of her physiology; I'm curious just how fragile her human form is in game. Will attacks have Sekh be revealed? Hmm.

That first part sounds like Taliesin's proposed mechanic. I heard it was something along the lines of Eliza being a slower, hard hitting character while Sekhmet is a quick and agile one.
 
well on the bright side Robo fortune's short developement time makes it slightly more bearable than Eliza's long dev time
 
Her skin ripples to reveal Sekhmet in Eliza's standing idle so it's pretty fragile. It'd be pretty neat if some of her skin was ripped away to display Sek beneath while she's getting hit.

As far as I'm aware they still haven't officially announced how Eliza and Sek will play, whether she'll have limited moving or attack options in either form or if Sek will function more like a puppet or Stand than a full new character. Food for thought though - Eliza's crouching idle has already been animated and today's stream was labeled Sek's crouching idle, so they look to be totally separate characters in at least some form. I can't imagine many reasons to have a crouching idle for anything not fully controllable.

IIRC, Mariel mentioned the character is as laborious as two whole characters. I'll keep hanging to idea that Eliza will be a full blown dual stance character.

This sketch might be outdated by now but it seems to be Eliza as Sekhmet is active, her flesh and blood anchored to the staff and the ankh fastened. I wonder if Eliza would be vulnerable in this state and the player has to play escort mission? Poor Oujo-sama... :(

I swear I need to just store this in a pastebin or something so people can link to it whenever Eliza talk comes up.

A.B.A. (Guilty Gear series): Easy, ABA has an alternate mode that she can switch to for a limited period that buffs her, gets a refill at the start of the next round. Can combo into this mode switch.

T.O.P. System (Garou): When character health is lowered to a certain amount, gets access to certain moves and buffs. This ties into Eliza's description as 'The Ultimate Attack-From-Disadvantage Character', losing blood along with health would give her access to specials only available with lowered health. Dunno how this would tie into the game with recoverable health already a thing in the game.

Donovan (Darkstalkers series): Donovan has certain moves that make use of his large sword, as well as being able to plant it into the ground.

Nanase (Street Fighter EX3): uses a staff weapon, has a moveset with and without the staff.

Anakaris (Darkstalker series): Egyptian/Mummy visual motif, as well as being able to detach his limbs for long range attacks.

Litchi (Blazblue series): Same deal as Nanase, has a moveset for when she's wielding a staff, one for when she isn't.

Jafar (Aladdin SNES): boss fights throughout the game have Jafar throwing his staff into the ground to summon magical attacks. No clue how this translates to fightan.

Jedah (Darkstalker series): Same deal as Anakaris, able to detach limbs for long range attacks. Makes use of various attacks using blood, including unblockable grabs. Wields a scythe.

Carmine (UNiB): Same as Jedah, uses blood attacks and has a scythe for a weapon.


Obviously all of this is pure speculation based on a list of gameplay inspirations that's months old and could have been revised internally multiple times for all I know. I know Mike's said a few times that he was looking forward to working on Eliza the least out of all the DLC characters.

EDIT: Also remembered that Mike has mentioned more recently that Eliza would have some function that works similar to Soul Body from Megaman X4.

Hopefully this helps answer at least some questions people are having about Eliza. Reminder that work on her has just barely begun, but with no delays like Squigly or Big Band hopefully more info about her will come out faster.

Does anyone know how fucking terrifying Sekhmet in comparison to Eliza is?
Personally, I see things the other way around. It's the calm and composed types one should be afraid of...but hey! I'm biased in that regard.

If Sekhmet is indeed a part of Eliza you can control, if you win while in Sekhmet Mode, please please PLEASE let this be one of her win poses.
I'm going to take that "one of" and add the other should be Sekhmet jumping on the downed opponent and tearing them to shreds...because you know, "She Who Mauls". >:3

Eliza better have an animation where Sekhmet just straight up rips herself out of Eliza's body whilst screaming, straight up horror movie style. I wanna see all those naysayers who think of her as just "another top-heavy fan-service character" to get the piss run out of them like Double and Ms Fortune's animations before.

It would be a great surprise in line with the overall aesthetic of the game; you got a game with gorgeous bouncy, endowed fighters, yet instead of being a cheesecake game, it's a rather dark and twisted tale of corruption, sacrifice, vengeance and more. You've got Eliza, a buxom, elegant and composed woman who holds a horrifying secret beneath. We expect titillation, but then BAM! Sekhmet comes busting out and scaring the crap out of everyone! Subversion at its finest! :D
