Yeah, pools ran down to top 8 instead of going to 16, then down to top 8 this morning. I don't really mind because it meant not having to get up early to watch lol.

Next year, can we seriously start a fund to get SIG and maybe Inuchiyo to Combo Breaker? SIG is simply freakin ridiculous and Inuchiyo has a proven record in EVO top 8's. We can call it, "Take off every SIG"
Regardless of your actual beliefs on Robo Fortune's strengths, it really cannot be denied that the biggest thing SG players need to make their preferred characters competitive, is to git gud and be fundamentally sound fighting game players. There are not nearly enough high level SG players for even a small handful of characters in the game, let alone the whole cast, let alone all these hypothetical players having the opportunity to play against each other, to make serious judgement calls about their competitive viability in a top tier competitive setting.

Pinging @Kai, I completely agree
Either for evo or next year's cb!
I just wanna shout out to everyone I got to see at Evo. It was a blast, with a few bumps on saturday for me, but it was a fantastic time and I am glad I did not miss it.
So are we shunning EVO to the point where it gets no coverage on SH whatsoever? haha
Thanks to all who came out to participate and/or support, and congrats to all winners! Hope I did an OK job running the tourney this year. 90 entrants total, so not a bad turnout despite tons of players focusing on CB instead.
Here are the pool brackets. Keep in mind that there were a number of DQs/dropouts, but most of them were in Pool 4, I believe. Krillin, Paper, Face, MELTY_BLOOD_PLAYER are the ones that come to mind.
Biggest mistakes:
1) DQ-ing silverhydra when I said I'd wait for him to get back from his SF4 pool. Still feel really bad about that, but I gave him a refund and he was understanding about it, if (understandably) pretty frustrated with me.
2) Making Loser's Semi-finals between Bang and SIG 3/5 when it was supposed to be 2/3. It ended up not mattering but it could've been a huge problem.
3) Not posting a Top 8 bracket anywhere online for people to follow along. OOPS!
Top 8 was super hype. Big thanks to Madcatz for hosting us on their stream.
There's like 30min of downtime to play the GG+R Grand Finals right before our own. They were supposed to take place after ours, but since SonicFox was had to run off to go win at MKX before coming back to win SG, we squeezed it in. The +R community is super cool, though, and Brett is a good friend, so DON'T COMPLAIN. Or at least, if you do, know that it makes render sad.
We gotta find a way to have Evo Finals with commentators at an actual booth.
That's just the way the setup at the Madcatz booth was. Finals for all other games hosted at their stage were the same way.
Seriously, though, is no one going to acknowledge that SH pretty much hasn't covered EVO at all? There wasn't even anything on the site telling people about the stream, the schedule for which was known for more than a couple weeks ahead of time.
Granted, there's been RF release news and such, and I'm sure people are busy... But I can't help but think there's a general anti-EVO mentality, and I think that's kinda the wrong way to go.
EDIT: Maybe not outwardly anti-EVO, but more like a general avoidance of it. :P
EDIT2: I worked really hard to run a good tournament there so I'll confess some personal investment in it. :P :P :P

I think it's more that everybody probably assumed the other guy would write it up. I know I did, lol. @Flotilla where you at?
EVO is just another tournament to people. Like NEC or GUTS lol
Idk if those ever got any coverage here, I don't remember them getting any until after the event and the streams were usually posted in the tourney thread

Says the guy with the sig declaring which assists are top tier. :^P

Skullheart has a "Tournaments with a Pot Bonus or Main Stage" section that takes half of the main page. Was EVO included there after the $1000 pot bonus was announced?
I recall I briefly checked shortly before the event and didn't see EVO there, but I might have missed it/not been paying enough attention, so the question is genuine.
The lack of pre-EVO coverage is what it is, and the fact that we announced a pot bonus a mere 4 days or so before the tourney itself was our own fault, but no link to the stream before it was happening, or any article talking about the winners seems lame.
ANYWAY, I know I'm being kinda whiny about it so I'll try to stop. It just seems silly to me to not bring attention to SG at EVO when we actually had a somewhat decent turnout.

No, to my knowledge. I didn't see it listed and I was specifically looking for it, as I was wondering the same thing.
There really wasn't much EVO coverage which was a bit disappointing. I'm happy the turnout was still fine, though.
I'll give my shoutouts shortly but all in all, the tournament ran smoothly and I enjoyed it a lot! I heard lots of complaints about pools being stacked and people asking to be changed but it is ransom so you got to respect the pools.
I was trying to money match all of top 8. I got most.
Me vs sonic fox - 0-7
Me vs swift fox - 5-7
Me vs bang - 7-5
Me vs dolfin - 7-5
Me vs SIG - 6-7
I didn't play negus cause just no time. I didn't play remicks because I didn't know who he was and couldn't find him (no offense) and I didn't play mike because that's unfair.

Good games! I'll get you next time for sure.
Also finally home but I have to finish this take home midterm I was supposed to do during the weekend. Shoutouts tonight or tomorrow morning.
