Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

This got super toxic super fast holy shit.

Look, I've bashed the shit out of this game a bunch here. A buncha stuff I've been wrong about, probably a thing or two I've been right about, but it really comes down to perspective.

here's mine:
I don't want to pay $90 for a third of a game. IDC if it plays good or blows my mind. I don't put a lot of time into fighters past when they're relevant with the exception being Skullgirls and Melty Blood. That being said, if a game wants to sell itself to me, it has to has features. The whole 'murdering a franchise' thing did come off as bashing ppl who have been bashing this game, but to many its deserved. It's a case of even if you're tired of it and just want to enjoy the good, the game is still too new to do so. A lot of ppl are still on the fence or very disappointed.

It's fine to let MvC die. I know that sounds harsh, but if THIS is the best we're gonna get, fuck em. Poorly remixed music that doesn't fit the cast on the Capcom side, none of which sounds fitting for a fighter, rushed visuals that have notably improved but are still lacking compared to stuff like IJ2 and Tekken 7 which came out first, huge price tag for only 1 real selling mode that being story, and 'good' gameplay

Look, I'm a casual. This game is fucking frustrating online. IDC about the high level play except to watch it. If a game has to sell itself on its highest level play and can't have strong fundamentals (something I think the game lacks given the very open and abusable system it uses) then I don't really want to play it past the first few days. It was NEVER just the memes, and blaming it on that doesn't do much to help. In fact, if it was just Memes that could have BOOSTED the game's reputation and sales given the current state of the market with stuff like the Emoji Movie doing well just for the meme of it all as well as other big franchises doing well despite poor reception across the board. No, this was ALL due to poor issues with PR, the graphics, and everything else besides the gameplay. You want to blame someone for letting MvC die? Blame Capcom for wrapping a fun experience in a shit product and expecting ppl to lap it up and call it gourmet food.

If you like MvCI and want to support go ahead, that's fine, as is the other side, but so BOTH SIDES are clear, the game is still new and its a hard sell as is so don't expect the discussion as to why ppl won't support it to end anytime soon. we should coexistent with our shit opinions! :P

toxi doxi o shitt it mad moxxi

i don't even know anymore i just want wright joe and asura man

Yeah, how dare we not unquestioningly line up to keep buying all these $90 preorders regardless of quality. Capcom is entitled to our money and we're just selfish for not giving them everything.
I never said buy this game. If you never touch another MVC game, thats all on you. I can understand all the reasons why people won't bother with it.

Like I've said before, however, many people are giving this game a much harsher time BECAUSE of all the bandwagoning, and despite all the issues they fixed gameplay wise, nobody is going to play it. And because of this the company is likely going to throw up their hands and give up if stuff doesn't change soon.

Hate Capcom if you like, you got plenty of reason to do so. BUt it seemed like from the very beginning you wanted this ship to sink and sink hard, consequences be damned. And I'm not sure if I'm ok with people with that mindset.

People are angry and disappointed But honestly this feels like a joke that went on far too long. If this is Capcom's last shot, is this really how you want the series to end? over a roster that isn't the est or some faces you dont even stare at too long while playing? Or a story mode that doesn't look eye to eye with Netherealms (which I defenitely remember people years ago joking Injustice's story way back when)? I don't see it. At this point I'm not sure if I ever will see it. Who knows.

But whats done is done now. THose who are going to buy it are going to buy it, and those who wont wont.I'm just tired and want to see more, but at least I know who won't miss the series when its gone.

that's fair. I think this whole chat was missing context. feels like people were putting part of their thoughts and others were misconstruing it.

I personally don't agree, but I understand where you're coming from. It is a tiring discussion and truth be told I don't want to see MvC die but I'm not willing to give them the money for this. I'm just lucky I was able to snag a copy thanks to a friend (well more like thanks to a friend's misfortune D:)

Things have just been a bit too heated here for the conversation's own good me thinks.

Believe I'd love playing the game, hell SFxT remains one of the must fun Capcom fighters I played and this game reminds me of it a lot, but all this corporate fuckery and plain disrespect to consumer intelligence just turns me off.

I do not separate such things and I don't want to reward this behaviour with money.

IMO,
This game was doomed from the start.
No matter how good the gameplay is it would have failed. Even if a majority of the FGC supported it, it would have failed.
Obviously this is all conjecture, but I believe that a majority of FG sales stem from the casual market. You get the first big wave at launch, then they stagger in as people spread the word.
Now, what would have prevented the casual crowd from touching this game?

1 - Street Fighter V.
Street Fighter V's disastrous launch put Capcom on the bad side of a lot of people so, already, at the start there was some distrust amongst the hype.

2 - The visuals.
A lot of the casual crowd who saw the first trailer where immediately turned away and the distrustful crowd found some hefty ammo. I've seen people chant the mantra of "it's early in development" but that was quickly dispelled. Shocker, presentation is a big thing.

3 - No improvements.
As the months passed there didn't really seem to be much improvement so hype was continuously being converted to negativity. It also didn't help that the so-called "shills" kept giving people ample meme material. I also think that the FGC itself was bummed out from Capcom, thinking that MvCI would be another SFV scenario gameplay wise where it quickly became abundantly clear that it was pretty stale.

Haven't played this game yet but I will maybe pick it up used.
I'm very interested to see where high-level play goes in the coming months. If the gameplay proves itself to be good in the long-term then maybe this game isn't dead just yet.

I know this isn't directed to me, but I don't hate capcom.
I don't think others hate capcom.
And definitely NO ONE wanted this ship to sink, and sink hard.
Everyone wanted this to be good. We were hype. A new marvel game? fuck yeah!

If this is Capcom's last shot, is this really how you want the series to end? over a roster that isn't the est or some faces you dont even stare at too long while playing?
I don't think its right to blame the consumer for a shoddy product?
Plus, even if everyone supported it THIS would be marvel for a decade.
A decade of less-than-stellar graphics and a decade of paid DLC?
As far as I'm concerned, whether the ship sank or swam, this would have been the end of MvC.

Look, I'm rambling, I don't know what I'm talking about.
I just came in to say that I'm angry at the people who went "We just and to kill a series in the process" when it clearly wasn't the consumers at fault.

I'd like to point out that the Tekken cross over shot itself in the foot with the insane amount of glitches, bad writing, and.... uhg... "Bad Box art" megaman being a thing when, at the time, Megaman has been shit on by Capcom a dozen times in several forms of cancellations and what not.

I'll go ahead right here and admit, I'm pirating the game. That story demo was ass and not even what I wanted. I need more local information than some half assed demo.

I'm actually wasting my time and cellphone bandwidth to give this game a shot and maybe have it change my thoughts. I don't know. But in all seriousness, I'm still expecting a Mighty Number 9...

If this rip impresses me, I'll add it to my "wish list".

it's okay Kit. I've been debating on the rip as well.

but honestly i can tell that there is some hidden slop in the gameplay that Max overlooked.

Yeesh.

And Mr. Mod claims that I'M toxic.

Anyways, pirating is bad.

I have very mixed feelings about this game, but this is how I feel about it personally after playing it myself and watching it at CEOtaku.

It's fun to play and fuck around with, but it's a complete cluster f*ck at a competitive level. The gems I think personally are one of the worst parts about this game. The gems storms exactly. They are OBNOXIOUS. Power stone with the screen shaking makes me sick, reality stone hurts my eyes and looks completely unfun to fight against. I feel like they are a slight improvement over the xfactor system, but it just looks completely unfun and obnoxious.

The roster is pathetic. They recycled so much from UMVC3 and they could have probably spent the production time to actually include the DLC characters they purposely left out. I would have accepted a smaller roster if it meant more NEW characters could have joined the battle. Instead it feels like I'm watching 3.5 and it's really sad.

Visuals are ugly as well. The game lacks no style. It looks generic and uninteresting.

The story mode was a disaster. Obviously someone at Marvel and Capcom did not know that stories usually have a Beginning, Middle and End. Since I heard that this game was a sorta reboot to the series, I would have expected the story to explain how the characters meet and how they team up to take on the evil. They never do that, they just skip to what would be the middle of the story and I feel like I missed way too much. This story was rushed beyond all belief. The dialogue sucks, I didn't care for the characters and the ending was laughable.

Overall, the gameplay is fun to an extent, but looks to me completely unfun at a high level and looks like barely any care went into the game.

ALSO FULL SCREEN BLOCK PROXIMITY. LOL GG CAPCOM.

and also I don't get what you want... you don't want people to buy it, but you don't want people to pirate it, but you want MvC to live on, but you don't want capcom to get any money...

Like... what?

I'm a girl
Male gender terms are also gender neutral terms, in America.

Also, I just want Capcom to learn a lesson.

Don't with me.

I don't know what lesson you want them to learn but they have learned, and they aren't perfect so whatevs, I feel like nobody knows what they really want from capcom other than not what they're doing now.

Capcom needs to learn that it won't get any dessert if it doesn't finish all its vegetables

They should learn that if they don't put the effort into their games, people aren't gonna wanna buy them.

Yeah you right that's a fair point

But I'll just keep buying them anyways because the games are fun and that's all that matters to me.

Absolutely. From a gameplay standpoint, Infinite is definitely my favorite modern Capcom fighter. There was love and inspired ideas put there. Juuust not much anywhere else.

100% agree the game mechanically is mad fun even with it being super chaotic. They knew what marvel players wanted: CHAOS

Marvel 2 was chaos and a good game.

I'd be willing to forgive everything else if the game looked like it would stay fun past the initial novelty. But all the gameplay mechanics and play I've seen tell me that this is Sf X Tekken all over again and will be rightfully forgotten within months.

Maybe the game will surprise me and develop into something that's actually half decent over time, but I'm not betting on it. Modern Capcom (or rather the hack frauds they outsource everything to these days) don't have the design fundamentals to come anywhere close to the games they once made in fun factor.

I know I sound like a total downer here. It's totally cool if you enjoy the game and all and I don't want to rain on anyone else's parade. But me? Urrrrggh...

There's no true chaos without him though

I didn't say who, but you all know

I agree that the game is fun from a game play perspective. It's just amazing that Marvel vs Capcom once used to be a beautiful artistic series with wonderful colors that matched a comic book/manga appearance and now just looks like a cruddy mobile game.

In this situation it's hard, but I've chosen that I will not buy the game and not support capcom. Dragon Ball FighterZ hopefully make a statement when it's released. I doubt capcom will listen, but nevertheless, Dragon Ball FighterZ at least celebrates it's characters properly and tries it's damnest to look beautiful while doing it.

That's the one thing it boils down to, I think that both Capcom and Marvel are both disrespecting their legacy and their characters.

I'm pretty sure I said this when the game was announced, or whenever they first started giving information about it, they really should have come up with a new name. It wouldn't magically fix most problems people have, I know, but they really should have distanced the comparison as much as possible, especially given how iconic characters like Doom, Wolverine, Magneto, etc. were to the MvC series. It's not like removing assists, going 2v2 (yes I know Clash of Super Heroes exists) and all the other base gameplay changes weren't enough of an excuse to call it something different.

Anyways, pirating is bad.
You really do like making blanket statements with no consideration for reality.

Male gender terms are also gender neutral terms, in America.

It's actually been part of the English language in general for hundreds of years, it is still technically correct though you don't see it very often, but in any case that's not much of an excuse, just say "my bad" and move on. You can click on someone's name/avatar and see their gender at literally any time, for future reference.

big mcthankies from mcspankies I want to use wright and joe to dominate rankies

Also I hate Dante so fucking much

Really good match I played yesterday. I think my favorite part in matches is when both players are trying to punish tags at the same time and it just becomes totally wild.

Also reality stone is ridiculous. Kinda hope it gets nerfed. The orb should disappear if the sender gets hit

Anyways, pirating is bad.
I've bought more games after pirating em than just watching trailers. Like for an example, I have a pirated copy of Master of Orion, which has some crazy reviews (good/bad kind). It doesn't have a demo so all I could do is read reviews or watch someone else play it (which, to me, isn't fun as I'm wanting to play it). I now want to buy the game to keep it updated and maybe play with friends. Most of my library consists of games I used to have pirated as full games cause there's usually no demos, or really shitty ones, such as the MvCI one.

I pirated SG to try it out, not knowing anyone who played it at the time or much about it. I've since bought the game for myself on PS3, PS4/Vita, PC and PS4 again (Skullheart Box from Japan) and bought it for multiple friends as well as put as much as I could afford into Indivisible, far more than I've ever spent on any other game because of SG and Lab Zero's efforts and support. The video I posted says everything that needs to be, honestly.

Did you get sad from questioning the square root of a fish
I actually didn't have that happen, I fucked around with the game, thought it was cool and went and bought it. I think we're probably straying too far off topic now though.

Good ol' corsair method: play, discard early if you don't like, buy if you do like. Most games i bought on GoG and the ones i played the most on steam were because of it. Not pretty, but valid

Back on topic about capcom deserving a lesson, i'm a Mega Man widow, so Capcom despises my favorite characters and series so much that MN9 is still better than ANY new mega man game they launched since inafune left.
Also, the 30th anniversary stream was the most depressive thing i've seen this year: absolutely no new announcementes, they just kept reannouncing old merchandising and brought a boot (a literal boot) to the stage for no reason.

So, they had all the time, all the fan response, all the feedback and only does stupid decisions, over and over and over again
they screwed up with mega man franchises
they screwed up with SF (SF x T, then SFV)
They screwed up with marvel 3 (an impossible to upgrade expansion in less than a year, then lack of balancing of support)
They screwed up with marvel infinite (that's looking more and more like an SFxT fiasco 2.0, broken gems and all)
The only thing they managed to not completely ruin was Resident Evil, and the new DLC is already flirting with the bullshit that soured the fans in RE5 and 6

If capcom went bankrupt tomorrow and Inti Creates snagged the rights to some of the mega man series, it'd be shedding tears of joy, not sadness.

maybe what we need is that a dimensiona warp opens in the CEO floor of their main building and drag all the old managers there. they don't know what they're doing anymore.

I think you mean the Phoenix Wright game where Iris gets out of jail and Phoenix lives happily ever after with his wife and adopted family of Maya, Pearl, Trucy, and Edgeworth. Gumshoe becomes Chief and Larry meets a non thot.

After that then Capcom can tank
