Event Oversized Fisticuffs: Zidiane vs. McPeanuts

I doubt Matty has the game tbh, I can smell the skullfan in em.
I play on psn because I lack a good computer.

Best part of that video for me was how they awkwardly tried to make like they don't play every friday.
I'm pretty sure they cut out everything we said that even implied we knew each other, cause we weren't trying to hide it.

This was actually much more enjoyable than I was expecting. Great job guys.

Yo what the fuck did I miss...

Yeah, they did cut a fair bit of the words.

Can someone explain how this happened? Like what is this Unplugged thing and how did they come to feature Skullgirls at a big expo thing? How did some high level Skullgirls players happen to be there? I thought that kind of thing required envelopes of dosh from publishers

How indeed. Almost as if it's a big expo thing.

A couple weeks before the thing Lab Zero people posted asking if there were any SG people in the area who were good and wanted to play. Me and peanuts, among others, applied, and we were chosen. Then we went and had a good time. I think everyone but us was random.

This is going to sound like a plug for them, but I'm seriously curious. What was the experience like playing SG on the Surface? I'd have assumes it'd be much the same, only with a smaller/brighter screen than normal.

Apparently it was pretty good, according to Peanuts, but when I showed up it was lagging a bit. We believe that was cause of all the recording stuff, though.

Was just looking at the edited matches. It's pretty funny. The first match starts with a score of 7-0 in the glass canopy stage, but ends in the Empty Lab stage with a score of 0-0. Also, land 360 on Double with Peacock dead, go back to fighting peacock immediately after. The rest of the matches seemed to move in chronological order. Maybe. We played like 6 or 7 games, though, we even recorded a "win" speech for both me and Peanuts.

I thought it was pretty smooth. There were some matches where it lagged a bit which as Zid says is probably due to the recording equipment; when I played Ashley before any of the filming started it was 200% fine.

200%? Man, must be hard playing fighting games at 120 fps

Matty versus McPeanuts should definitely happen. I've got my money Peanuts perfecting him at least a few times and obviously winning the set without a loss
Aye aye aye, I hungout with Severine and Domo at northwest majors this last weekend and i don't think i was perfected once... I did SOME chip damage, okay? :PUN:

This has me thinking about the tournament viability of using a tablet as a game set-up. It sounds like an interesting idea.

Unless there's some sort of issue like screen lag or not enough controller ports or something.

I seriously can't stop laughing. I've shown this to so many of my friends who have no idea who yall are. Now I can say I ate McDonalds with a guy who stood next to Ashley Burch once.

Boy, that was fun... And actually made me want a surface tablet. It only needs an active stylus pen (like s pen on the galaxy note series) to be perfect

It'd definitely make transport and storage a whole lot easier. Though you'd ideally have some way of connecting it to an external, larger display (ideally with 0 lag) - as pretty as some of the modern displays are, the idea of sitting shoulder to shoulder with my opponent because the screen is so small isn't appealing. Not sure if tablets normally have that feature, because I've never owned one.

EDIT: Also, you'd need 2 USB-in ports for sticks.

can you two have a rematch at evo

I want to see people punch each other with giant boxing gloves live

If we're talking about Win8, there might be compatibility problems with the drivers for certain controllers. I have a Hori, I'm almost certain it has Win7 drivers but not Win8 ones.

A lot of tablets and laptops ship with HDMI out standard these days. The Surface Pro 2 seems to use Mini DisplayPort, which is HDMI-compatible. I don't know if it would have 0 lag though.

Tablets are nice for portability but the specs are always going to be a concern. Stuff like the Surface Pro 2 seems more geared towards productivity; if you wanted to stream or record matches you'd undoubtedly take a performance hit. The machine is using on-board graphics, which depending on the game and setup, could contribute to problems. It could be a viable setup but it wouldn't be ideal.

Anybody here play Skullgirls on a Surface Pro 2 and can vouch for the device? :/

Doing it at Pax was fine, but I'd rather not make a sideshow out of us at Evo.

The setup they had had a USB splitter. Seemed to work ok.

I had a tiny feeling there was SOME scripting going on.

What? Pssh. No. We did all our own stunts and jokes. Several times. At different angles.

When I saw that I wondered if they included that line in the final edit because they knew the term, or because it's a sideways advertisment for the X360. Still funny, though.
