I brought my Surface Pro (1) to NEC and we used it as one of the tournament setups for a while. Oddly enough, the Surface was fine while the monitor it outputted to supposedly had a frame of lag (using the MS HDMI converter). A USB hub is totally necessary, but other than that it's a fairly great albeit smallish ultrabook replacement.
People passing by were all like, "Are they playing Skullgirls on an iPad?!" because I had the keyboard detached.
edit: The SP2 is a phenomenal device and you should get one, especially if you do art-related work since it uses a Wacom digitizer.
