Saying "Do not do this" in regards to a post that no longer exists isn't very clear as your response is now out of context.
If this were the golden standard from the beginning instead of the “Laissez faire, laissez passer, lê monde va de lui même” approach, I dare say things would have never come to this point. I still remember the first rule overhaul and distinctly recall the expression "elevate the quality of posting". Ironic how funposting was at its peak during that time. I guess I'm a little "amused" in seeing this sudden and fervent passion for law and order.
I just have to appreciate Captain America with 'Canada Dry' plastered on his face.
Truly, he died for our sins.
The only reason I would accept removing the ability to speculate about a character's moveset is as a preemptive action to avoid another JuJu incident where some poster actually designs a move or mechanic identical to one that L0 would actually plan to implement, however small the odds of that are.The more I think about the removal of future speculation discussion, the sadder I become. Today on SRK, some people were talking about Rainbow Mika, I brought up the world of Joshi Pororesu (Japanese Women's Pro Wrestling) and the eyecatching costumes and insanely awesome maneuvers they perform. That got me to thinking about wrestling in general, Beowulf, and back to the decision. Now if one of the unreleased characters in the Indiegogo was another wrestler in Beowulf's league, but a female designed after the JP style, I can no longer discuss inspirational moves, unique mechanics, or anything of the sort. I love playstyle speculation, movelist creation and discussion. I may not have posted there as much, but I loved seeing all the creative ideas people bounced off of each other in the Scythana thread. The "corpse" mechanics had some cool ideas.
I just wonder how far all of this will go.
That is how we believe fighting game forums should work based off of the proven Shoryuken design. That does not mean it's the only way a fighting game forum can work.
can't the mods just move someone else to the first post? Find someone to keep it up to date and put them there.
I mean if they can that'd work. I'd be surprised if the forum software let you change the OP of a thread, though.
Not to mention "btw the combos that work start on page 3.6, 2 quarters down the page :^)))" but then edited posts shift that around and it's not accurate and oh my god why can't we all just be like this
I know they can at least delete them, vad had the first post on eliza threads before she came out and then delete his post explaining that the thread was locked until the character was out. maybe he could only delete it because it was his own post, but I don't think that's the case.
The pinned thread is more or less universal go to BNBs. It's a starting point.
Could create a 'Character X Thread Master' account and maybe share that log in information between 2-3 people who are very proficient with that character, to come back and edit the OP and keep up with things?Cleaning up the gameplay character subforums is something on our list, I agree that there are too many stickies with too little valuable information. Many of the current stickied combo threads were made immediately after Skullheart came back up last year/when the character in question was first put in beta, and have been very poorly maintained.
I was thinking that the character combo threads could be remade by a moderator who would then continue adding onto the OP as the community posts combos in the thread. This means we wouldn't need to keep any OP on a leash. Does this sound passable?
Doesn't need to be so complicated.Could create a 'Character X Thread Master' account and maybe share that log in information between 2-3 people who are very proficient with that character, to come back and edit the OP and keep up with things?
Only 1 person managing an OP would be stressful and heavy burden, unless someone just wants to go for it then whatevers.
