【Octo】 She is Dedf1sh (Deadfish).
Although it was a DJ who was regarded as promising for the future, as a result of pursuing ideal music, she stepped into the underground experimental facility and was "disinfected".
While losing her will, she continues to keep beating still, and her mix is flowing in the facility.
 
Just stoppin' by to mention that y'all didn't believe me on the Annie thing or the Callie thing and look where we are now.
 
I thought Callie would be important to adding Octolings until the expansion reveal. But I didn't know some of the things said about Octarians in interviews (lore only revealed in interviews is the worst, ugh).
 
I'm surprised no one mentioned these characters in the Octo Expansion in this thread?

The Sea Cucumber on the bottom is C.Q. Cumber, he had his bio added somewhere in the past few pages.

The other two are unknown.
 
Everyone besides C.Q. Cumber and Iso Padre is entirely there for aesthetic.

It personally doesn't bother me. It's just aesthetic, not like they're affecting actual matches.

Good news! We at the Squid Research Lab had previously mentioned that game updates would end this July, but we are happy to announce that free updates to gear, weapons and stages will continue through the end of 2018!

Splatoon 1 had one year of content updates and two years of Splatfests. They originally told us Splatoon 2 would have the same schedule. I'm not surprised at all they extended it though, since S2 has sold so much better (simply by virtue of being on a console that actually sold) and now they want to push DLC sales.
 
Octo Expansion is out, there are Octolings in my Plaza and I am bitter.
 
Welp, I stayed up way too late unlocking octolings. I didn't even really plan to, I figured the stated goal was too easy and wanted to see what would happen. I wasn't prepared...
for the cinematic experience. It gave me the "Imagine Inkopolis" button in the pause menu so it probably saved, but it feels right to complete the whole part in one session.

Iso Padre gives you some of the cool armors. But why Nintendo, why is the S2 Octoling Armor set Last-Ditch/Haunt/Shredder!? At least Object Shredder is good in certain builds.

Anyway, there's no exploration. But I've died way more than in Octo Canyon, it's a challenge. Mem Cake collectibles are largely silly and no replacement for Sunken Scrolls (they're mostly for Iso), but the chatlogs give good personality and background.

Also one of Pearl and Marina's new songs has a banjo in one part. I don't get it.
 
But it's only for like three notes!

I rally really hope Shark Bytes is a Splatfest song though.
 
Marina and Pearl have a different reaction to seeing you outside the newsroom window if you're an Octoling. Doesn't seem like there's any new dialogue from Marie or Callie, unfortunately. You can enter the grate as an Octoling but you emerge in Octo Canyon as an Inkling. :thinking:

I think I've gotten all the chatlogs, which means there are 10. That's... well, if each one is about 2 Sunken Scrolls, that's actually not far off from the amount of Scrolls. I wouldn't say all of them are worth 2 scrolls, though. The last one doesn't have very much, which is a shame 'cause it mentioned Grizzco which would be a great time to slip in one of the things said in an interview.

Also, between the interview and the chatlogs...
Marina was one of the most brilliant Octarian engineers. The devs said in an interview that Salmonids trade power eggs to Octarians for technology.

Marina could have invented Flyfish.
 
Well I finally beat the secret boss, that regrettable took awhile. The tokens you get from C. Q. Cumber are supper worth it as I was able to get 20000 gold and 14 skill drink tickets from 2 separate tokens out of like 8.

I really like this expansion, it gives Pearl and Marina alot more defined personalities and interesting backstories. Octolings, of course. Awesome ending story, and awesome challenges.
