Beowulf SPOILERS - Beowulf Story Mode and Other Lore

While the mental image of double being mashed into a can by a folding chair amuses me I don't think he alone could beat Double.

Yet we got a lot of Ancient Egypt references from Eliza yet very little Viking references from Beowulf.

And it's not like Eliza's name is Cleopatra either.

I just went to the Japanese Steam community to see what some Japanese players thought of Beowulf's story and a popular discussion is
about them coming to the realization that "Apron-chan" (Leduc) is not a girl. I dunno, I just thought 'Apron-chan' was pretty amusing.

Reminds me of the 'Pig-chan' name Filia has over there as well. I'm too noob at Japanese to find a good Japanese forum on Skullgirls/Beowulf and I'm pretty interested to know what they fought of him even though it's probably the same as what we think over here.

Strange, and I thought there are a lot of pretty boys that are often mistaken as girls there.

Pig-chan? Sheesh, what's the vendetta against Filia's weight? She's barely even chubby! Give her a break.

Anyway, I think it's for the best that people were mistaken about Leduc's gender. I can't really come up with the right words, but I think it's something to do with shattering the thought that men can't be fundamentally attractive in the same way women are?

I wasnt expecting Taliesin to be packing so much heat, also I always felt like Leduc was more of twink before but it appears he had more muscle than I thought, same with Taliesin

This was maybe the last chance for Alex and company to take some character's clothes off, so I'm betting they were portrayed more fan-service-y than how they'd be (or have been) drawn otherwise. Pubescent boy and skinny, rapey-looking dude are some hard character types to make sexy, so I think they just threw some abs and junk on 'em to sex 'em up :P

Yeah I would really imagine leduc would have Abs. Taliesin maybe but his character fits it.

I mean, there are plenty of other characters that could have fulled up a more fanservice role than leduc if they wanted beefy guys, like Hubrecht, Adam, or Isaac imo. every other appearance he had a Twink like look for Leduc, at least with me

EDIT: also Leduc is apparently 15 thats a bit creepy if that is his canon age, I know stuff on the fan wiki tends to be really bad info so idk if thats accurate

I totally agree. I just think that the art team wanted to both show off certain characters *and* show off some man meat, so the characters were tweaked (in this shot) to meet their desires. I don't know that for sure, it's just that they look so different that it's what makes sense to me.

You guys are all wrong Big band has the best Abs...He just never shows them because if he does everyone would fall in love with him because of his manliness.

Well lets see how we can connect this ummm. Grendel has Abs and Beowulf has Abs.

Mm yes. Not to mention that one of Beowulf's sketches look like a muscle anatomy study to me.

At the very least I got to have a nice double take when I realized that Leduc's parasite doesnt' cover his arms...
And then I felt really bad for him.
 
The Pig-Chan thing is explained here and it originates from the fact that Filia weights the heaviest out of several other heavy females across different fighting games. The funniest thing about that site though is that is says that Filia is representing 'a national character of America' (Stereotype).

Also Big Band tends to be called either Detective Sax or Uncle Sax (using Ojisan, which can also be used as a slightly impolite way to address a middle aged man).

I can't seem to find much for Beowulf - he seems to just be shortened to 'Beo' most of the time. But I seen a couple of people call him 'Nephew Beowulf'. The best thing I found out about him though? The wiki describes 'Kai Kennedy's voice as Beowulf as '見事', meaning either 'beautiful/admirable' or 'a praiseworthy act/commendable deed''. XD

Adam should be referred to to as Best-Sensei.
