well failures do make way for success...
aw cripes, now i don't want to touch this game with a 120 meter long pole. Why did they have to make Charlie a Frankenstein's monster? they could have just said he survived his battle with Dictator and was forced to recover for a long time. I don't know why he now has teleports, like just, why? no this is something i can't get behind, it's just... no. Knee Jerk reaction.
I love the new look (it really shows the tragic path that his war has taken him in), and I've been pouring over every minor detail (like the blue buttons on the cargo pants or how only his right side is greyed). I discussed this on another board, but I don't think he's patched with someone else, but rather wounds patched closed after being treated somehow thus making it black. If you look at his face and hairline, the patched part of his face looks like his undamaged parts (even has his eyebrows), there's no weird break in his hair either. I think he was badly burned in the alpha 3 explosion and those parts were repaired by the Secret Society / Gill's Illuminati and then when he got the Third Eye gem and shadow abilities he partially changed.I wonder if the gray patches are synthetic or just the parts of his/someone else's body that didn't 100% survive. Anyway, he's rocking the new Frankenstein's Monster look, very Victor-ish. Bison's outfit now having a trenchcoat a part of the look is cool, too.
Speaking of, the art and graphics got a major buff from the first build, looks much better and slightly more stylized, now.
I actually DON'T think it's Bison or Shadaloo that did this. He's more coherent and calm than any of Bison's test subjects have been shown. He's not crazy, sadistic, or robotic like the Dolls. The most he does is say "If you try to stop me...I'll have to kill you." He doesn't say he'll kill you if you challenge but rather try to STOP him(from his mission). He seems rather calm actually. I think he's just on the warpath to kill Bison at any cost and won't suffer fools.
I KNOW that Charlie was "killed" by Bison in that game. it just doesn't look good and overall doesn't feel right. (Why not make him have cyber parts, kinda like Cyber Gouki that would be cooler.) And come on giving Charlie teleports is like the laziest way to make a character have a mixup game. Why didn't they give him charged sonic booms? or what about the ones that Seth has in Omega where they hover in place for a second and then zip across the stage, that would be a lot more faithful to Charlie's fighting style and would make for a far more interesting character to play as instead of ambiguous crossups via teleport. I'm my eyes Capcom dropped the ball when it comes to making Charlie come back both in gameplay showing and visual appearance, i know that other people will be like, "I think he's cool, and i love teleports." but to be honest I'm not longer feeling this game.
I'd love to see them approach the story like how you've described, and suggest a kind of turf war between these malicious organizations, but I'm not willing to give the writers that much credit yet. Seth was one of Bison's tests and he ended up pretty calm, and seeing Charlie willing to kill Chun Li at all is already way out of his character. Shadaloo's just got too much going on at this point to really dismiss them yet.
Interesting points! In regards to Seth, he was supposed to be like Abel at one point and then be completely subservient as a host body, but when he gained self awareness he was no longer just a tool of Bison (didn't help him much in the end though). In regards to him wanting to kill Chun li, it seems like all the characters have just a generic before battle phrase at this point; Chun Li says the same thing to Chuckles as she does to Ryu. I think, due to their history (and almost romance, rowr) there will be a different reaction in the final game.I'd love to see them approach the story like how you've described, and suggest a kind of turf war between these malicious organizations, but I'm not willing to give the writers that much credit yet. Seth is kind of a gray area with this whole thing anyway. Given the ambiguous links to Gill that we see between Seth and Charlie, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Capcom just wrote off all of these guys as being part of Shadaloo's "remaining 26" or whatever. Linking Gill and Urien to Bison like that would be really disappointing to me, but y'know, disappointment is something I've come to expect from Capcom.
Still, I want this game to be a stronger sequel than IV, so I'll remain a mild optimist. Hopefully they reveal some brand new characters to us soon.
If Capcom really wanted to make people go crazy, they'd call him "Gerdenheim's monster"
Ken's in bud. Capcom may have issues, but when have they withheld something like this? Yeah, they did on-disc DLC BS and issues with Asura's Wrath, but holding back a character who is the other half of the face of Street Fighter? I can't see them doing that.Im not a really a fan of Ken but is it weird that they haven't showed Ken yet? He is like a series staple.
It would be scummy if they made Ken as a DLC Character but Capcom would be making bank. I wouldn't be surprise if capcom did this cause their financial situation is not looking so hot right now.
