Street Fighter V

 
Ugh, last night I finally sat down and finished the General Story DLC on Expert. I though the Overpowered DOll fights with Juli was bad...the Charlie vs Bison final fight was a nightmare, even when I learned how to cheese it. I am NOT a Nash fighter. Hell I got though the Chun-Li vs. F.A.N.G. Fight in one try (THANK YOU EX Lightning Legs) and the Ryu vs Bison took less than half the time and the Ryu vs Ken post credits even less.

Yeah I'm a casual playing on pad but still...

5 hours on one fight sucked.

I'm really digging AE. Thing's been a friggin' breath of fresh air. Between the arcade modes, endings, secret bosses, new missions and new v-triggers, it's been a breath of fresh air.

I think he's Q's daddy. Here's some theorizing I've been doing on the SRK lore thread:

The clenched fist, the stark contrasting colours (black and red and white pants), fancier coat scream flashiness. Q was in a basic trenchcoat, slacks and a white t-shirt and tie. Classy and understated, but with what we've seen of G, he looks to be quite the arrogant showman.

One of the few things Q says is "I am....abomination" and he cries through the mask. The little we've seen of G, I can't imagine him to have a sympathetic bone in his gold-clad body. Now I'm seeing things differently. Let's look at what we have on the table:

-As Cestus noted, the recent design notes mention that Q's locked into the mask and misc notes mention he's possibly being controlled like a puppet

-Q has generally bizarre and loose movements, but at times such as when he parries, he can drop the act normal for a spell.

-When shocked, we cannot see his skeleton, we've theorized that this is due to incredibly dense muscle structure.

-His win poses have him shedding a tear, reflecting and saying he's an abomination, looking at the opponent and deciding to stare, leave or stomp on their leg.

-G appears to be a two-faced (look at the drastically different S3 preview pics that we were shown -- arrogant villain face, and noble face), media focused, proud to show off his global-patterned, golden arms and mocking, villainous sneer

-His story outfit bears an incredible resemblance to Q, but it appears much fancier and villainous. He also doesn't have a rigid pose as Q does.

I think that SF3 Q's movements are some residual damage (Nerve? Psychological) from being controlled and he remembers and regrets being one of the "Sons of G" hence him being an abomination.

From what we know, he's been seen around the globe at different crime scenes, but observing, not fleeing, or causing them.

His ability to show empathy and rage to me suggest that he's a victim of some sort and is lashing out in anger at being attacked, or maybe he thinks the strong opponents who fight him are a possible threat that need to be stopped like G and whatever operations he's connected to.

I'm thinking that G's vanity will be on display, and other Q's will be similar in appearance, but "our" Q is the only one who will act so bizarre. I dunno, I feel like he's broken control at a heavy price and is investigating whatever G's plots may be. IF the Kiki stuff isn't retconned, then he's already been active for some time and Viper is after him in between spying on Shadaloo, but G as we know him will be in his Abe Lincoln outfit.

Who are some good beginner characters and what can I do to destroy R Mika Mains for having bad taste in deisgn?

Welcome aboard!
Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li are good beginner characters, they teach good fundamentals.

When fighting against R. Mika, avoid close range to prevent throw loops. When you see her charge up her drop kick (standing HK), neutral jump to avoid it and the combo that follows.

I don't have much experience as Rashid, but he isn't too difficult to understand once you learn the fundamentals.

Man... I dunno if I want to get this. Even at 50% off during a Steam sale that's still $20 base, but Akuma was really fun when I played the CFN Beta. DBFZ coming out and still got Skullgirls.

I could just play 3rd Strike too. :P

Nah, you're overthinking. All costumes are jokes anyway (and this one was grade A bait)

I have a more plausible theory

Horace BelGer, last boss of final fight (the first one):

Capcom is adding final fight characters in their fighting games like crazy in the last 10 years, most of them ex mad gear members, be it as character or cameo. Two-P even made a small appearance in SFV AE bonus game. Damnd and abigail overlap and capcom forgot there are sequels to final fight, so belger is the biggest figure they still haven't used.

Also, check the hair, beard and face and compare with the level of changes Andore (hugo) or abigail received. It's plausible

And the wheelchair isn't a problem. He uses it because of luxury and convenience, not because he's a cripple

Another detail is that he has a scar on one eye, confirmed in the recent character profile picture series (this art is based on how he should've been on the first final fight, if even sakura grew he could've aged and changed too)

Pompous, evil face, wants to be the boss (mayor or "president" as it was called in the leaks) could make a fine plot point for Cody and Abigail in the future... most of it adds up nicely

Heh, yeah, I do tend to overthink things, it's kinda my shtick. I definitely think G will have connections to Metro City (the order that he appears and then the showcasing of the 3 FF characters, plus Cody supposedly being the Mayor and the old "President" concept you mentioned plus one of the leakers saying Mayor Cody and "President" would be in this season). Nice catch on the Belger eye and G eye thing, didn't notice that. Hmm, aren't those the story costumes though, not the premium not canon ones? I dunno why Cody's dressed like that, but everything else looks plausible:

-Sagat: flashback costume of sorts? I'd say pre SF1 look if not for the scar. Him having what looks more like a dressing than an eyepatch would make me think it's Sagat fresh from Gou Hibkii eyegouging, but this could be post SF4 when he steps up his training in the forests.

-Falke: Too early to say, but maybe training outfit before she encounters Ed?

-Blanka: Plush Blanka promotion bonanza. In the holiday side story, he did deliver plushies to Laura's house and it's been noted that he's starting to capitalize off of his appearance. The way that the game's store has Dan commenting on all the costumes and stages and him being happy his electricity is back on in Rashid's story mode makes me wonder if he finally started a Street Fighter blog and Blanka's and he are trying to launch some sort of business venture. Kinda a reach, but could be fun to see Dan taking an active commentator role in this since this season seems to be more of a televised event (all the spotlights, gold and stadium aesthetics)

-Cody: Maybe, he's got nothing else after being let out of Jail and Haggar loans him some clothes in the meantime, but then before Cody can settle, the Black Moon's incident starts, the riots that Alex mentioned to Dhalsim start and he has to go vigilante in oversized overalls

-Sakura: Maybe doing some weekend coaching for kids?

-G: Alternate identity, hidden objective mode? Going with your theory of him being Belger, what if he was recruited by the Illuminati and healed? What if, operating in the shadows, he grew in his ambition and now, with the global balance of power shifted in the death of Shadaloo, he makes a new identity, exploits the recent global turmoil from the Black Moon attacks and runs for president or Mayor? In Menat's crystal ball, it does look like he's on stage promoting his campaign. Also, with the global aesthetic, what if he's already a person in power, but making some kind of global show of Street fighters or something? I really hope there's a new story mode coming.

Heh, sorry for the word salad, it's just fun to speculate again.
 
in all my days, i never would have expected "Giant Police Officer voiced by Combofiend" to be a fight in the Street Fighter series

Damn you Street Fighter for being overratedly godly! You only allow characters from your past (and better) fighting games in cameos as either costumes for SF characters or playable in vs crossover games! You don't understand what WE want!

Seriously, I miss Darkstalkers... and I don't mean cameo costumes, I mean the actual game! Consider it!
 
Those costumes are great! are there any more that we know of yet?

*edit: forgot it's usually only 2 costumes. Nonetheless these are great! Love sakura's especially.

also I hope we get more costumes for more characters soon. Especially season 2 characters and characters that were base roster who don't have much (fang, vega, etc)

Since MenaRD won Capcom Cup last year, we're also getting a costume for Birdie, his main.

Is it confirmed that it is Birdie? He's also a Laura Player but it was his Birdie that carried the day for Cap Cup.

Capcom rarely makes reference colors to games that would be deemed as their competition unfortunately so it's probably pretty unlikely.

But I would love that color too, it would just look nice with her design I think, especially because they gave her such strange make-up colors, I hope her other colors have a lot of color variety especially with her face make-up.

It feels to me that some of those animations are like Capcom made some production sketches of moves that looked good in 2D but when 3D animated don't really translate well at all.
