Skullgirls Lore Speculation

If Annie is ever going to be in it'll be now, not only is Beo the last non-joke character, but he and her are both big time badass celebrities. I think Alex once said they do know each other. It could be really cool for the two of them to level and have a talk about Beo's career.
It drives me nuts how we all go crazy for different characters, many of which we've never heard/read talk or even seen do anything. So we don't actually know they're speech patterns or personalities!
I wanna get to know Scythana, Annie and Beowulf!

If Eliza ends up being the

"dragon" that Beo has to defeat that would be great and terrible (both for reasons that those of you who read the epic know)

Beo's final fight will be against blood titan eliza in a no-holds-barred cage match.

The cage will be made of the bones from the losers of Beo's past victories in battle

Beowulf's story will perhaps address his return to the ring. He get's a mention in Peacock's story mode:

Peacock: The sooner I get done with that Skullgirl, the sooner we can get back to watch "Glorious Annie: Symphony of Star Stuff."
Andy: Yeah, I gotta get back to watch wrestling - I heard Beowulf's coming out of retirement!

Speaking of Lab 8's ultimate weapon's story mode, there are some bits of info about what sets a Skullgirl apart from the regular combo of human and parasite:

Dr. Avian: The Argus System not only lets her see everything, but the eyes also generate powerful Z-rays at the precise wavelength needed to disrupt a Skullgirls's essence.

Mike Z-rays! Then, later, the reason Peacock wasn't at Lab 8 when Valentine let the Skullgirl in:

Avery: The Theonite Resonance Detector is picking up a huge reaction downtown!

I'm guessing this spike of Theonite power was Marie tearing Medici tower in half. It takes an enormous expenditure of energy to snap a skyscraper like a breadstick. Squigly even wakes up. Perhaps she tumbles out of her coffin and onto the rooftops because she was being stored in the high floors of Medici tower.

Good point. I forgot Big Band was also on a Theonite wild goose chase. He begins his story mode on patrol outside the casino:

Big Band: Time to check out the River King Casino. A Medici joint lit up like a Christmas tree with Theonite readings -- if it's not the Skullgirl, I don't know what it is.

Peacock ended up in Maplecrest pursuing the Theonite signal Avery sensed. I think I may have been mistaken claiming the spike was Marie wrecking Medici tower. Perhaps there were Theonite resonance spots all over town. A ploy by Double to scramble the Anti-Skullgirl weapons' sensors. Perhaps she was able to do this via the subterranean pocket hellscape, Gehenna. A store of Skullgirl victims' blood, the cavern is bubbling with Theonite energy.

So we have Theonite (related to Skullgirl power) and Z-rays tuned to a certain frequency (related to weakening Skullgirl power). Perhaps the physics of Skullgirls radiation will be further explored in Robo-Fortune's story mode.

Other than turning into "Mega-Maid" in Eliza's ending, the biggest demonstration of Skullgirl strength Marie demonstrated was breaking Medici Tower, which comes later in Big Band's story mode. He's on the street to see it happen.

Something I don't think I ever seen anyone mention much is the clown from the Circus. The one that's supposed to represent the joker card I think. He seems to be Gigan or perhaps half gigan like Scythana. I can find a name for him, and he obviously wasn't included in the indiegogo dlc char poll, so maybe he's not supposed to be a noteworthy or future-playable character (although certain semi-important chars like Irvin were left off). But it seemed strange that he was assigned a card and had a -in my opinion- cool design. Maybe there could be a connection to Grendel hinted in Beo's story mode, or perhaps he's related to Scythana.

It also makes you wonder how Gigans are treated in the Canopy kingdom. The Canopy and Gigan kingdoms are supposedly at a truce, but of the few gigan/half-gigan characters in sg, one is a circus clown and likely mobster, one had its arm ripped off in a wrestling match and the other was falsely imprisoned, now on the run. Perhaps specifically half-gigan people are treated like freaks in canopy society at large?

the theonite reading was probably Cerebella's Vice Versa

Vice Versa wouldn't give off that much energy, otherwise the whole city would light up on Big Band's radar.

Well I think he mostly exists so that they can have a full set of cards. Spade guy and the Ring Master seem pretty pointless other than to do the same.
But he is probably a gigan, albeit a shrimpy one. I mean he looks shorter than (I imagine) Scythana and she's a half-gigan. He could be a half gigian himself, but he has two horns.

Alex Ahad said that the average height of the Gigan is around 15 feet, but they come in all shapes and sizes.
It's not too far-fetched that a full-blooded Gigan can be as short as Scythana.

He could be a half gigian himself, but he has two horns.

Is the number of horns confirmed to be indicative of full or half gigan status? Do we know how many horns Grendel has?

Oh so zero horns?! unless those flappy ear looking things are horns. Liking the ironic tattoo.

I really like the circus, they're probably my fave subgroup along with the Egrets, but the Egrets already have so much camera time in story mode compared to the circus. (Faintly) hoping that we'll see some of them in Beo's story either when he inevitably fights Cerebella, or if the story is more focused on Grendel and the gigan clown is referenced/involved at all, but not really expecting that to happen.

I think those are part of his mask.

I think those are part of his mask.

Oh srsly lmao i didnt pickup on the fact he was wearing a mask, I thought he had two rows of teeth and had makeup around his eyes. A mask makes sense tho since wrestling and whatever.

Not sure if this has been discussed on this thread, but I always felt the joke with Scythana was that she had one horn due to her human DNA.
Now, I'm obviously not a credible source on this, but I theorize Grendel will undergo a slight redesign in Beowulf's story mode and he will have horns. Obviously just a guess. That picture of him is pretty old after all, many things have changed since the days of Butterknife and the Triplets.

Anyway, all the Gigans in this image have at least 2 horns, some of the bigger ones have 3 or 4. (Note: The Colossus is just for scale reference)
But really, Grendel will make or break the whole "do all gigans have horns?" thing. (Provided he actually shows up!)

Man I wish Alex would show us what Gilgamesh looks like...

I suspect half-gigans might suffer from the same ostracism all half-breeds tend to experience in (fictional or otherwise) worlds.

Shunned in human societies because "ew, gigan", shunned in gigan societies because "ew, human".

Also something worthy of noting, Taliesin was going to recruit Beowulf if I remember right, so we might get a closer look into how the Medici work, so that'll be neato.

Hadn't heard that before, sounds interesting though!
Like I've been saying, I'm wondering what characters will debut (in spoken roles) in Beo's story.
Taliesin has always interested me, as the evilest circus member, I always wanted to see more of him. Even if Mike Z hates him.

Since Taliesin could try to recruit Beowulf for the Medici Mob or something, if Beowulf refuses, wouldn't have butt heads with Cerebella? Not meeting your heroes or similar thoughts. Or it could be a key to Cerebella realizing a little that the Medici are not what they seem.

*Edit: I need to be more careful with my writing.

Well, some think she works with Isaac as his archaeology assistant. Maybe she'd prefer to be away from society and in abandoned ruins.

I always liked the speculation that she turns out to have a more thoughtful personality that doesn't fit with her fearsome appearance.

Graduate Student Scythana studying under College Professor Isaac is one of my favorite headcanons.

Never heard that before but I'd be happy to see that factoring in to his story. Who knows, maybe Taliesin/Muse are the 'dragon'. If this angle does get chosen, I'd personally like it if beo was at least tempted or conflicted at least initially. He has ripped someones arm off, so he's obviously not Mother Teresa.

Mother Teresa pallete for Beowulf in next update

deep down, i want to know why double lashed out at eliza as if she had the queen's grudge.

Eliza knows Lamia best, so let's take a closer look in her interactions. After defeating Marie, Eliza taunts the Skull Heart:

Eliza: Skull Heart! You should have chosen a livelier host.
Skull Heart: ...I've... found... you...
Eliza: What?
Skull Heart: The Crimson... Scourge...
Skull Heart: ...NEFERU...!!
*Double tentacle lances from nowhere and rips off Eliza's right arm*
Double: Betrayer! You alone shall never be forgiven!

More evidence to support that Double and the Skull Heart are parts to a greater whole. If you speak to one, do they both listen?

Stunned, Eliza is shielded by her loyal bodyguards. She appears not to recognize what Double is, currently loosely maintaining the nun identity.

Eliza: What... is that thing...!?

Double is boiling with rage, morphs into something resembling The Trinity.

NsGVVk0.jpg

Double: It was you... You murdered them...!
Double: Aeon... Venus...
Double: You killed... my daughters...! You... destroyed my kingdom...!
Eliza: Queen Lamia...? Whatever it is, it carries her grudge.

Eliza escapes to Gehenna and revives after a refreshing dip in the lake of blood.

Eliza: You see? Everything that belongs to you was always destined to be mine.
Double: All you've done is trap yourself in my world. Your suffering will be unending! I will shatter you until not a trace remains!
Eliza: I think not. I'm the one in my element here, shadow of a queen.

So Double is was Queen Lamia. What's a Lamia?

Lamia - a beautiful queen of Libya who became a child-eating daemon. Apparently, the Greek word for gullet (laimos), refers to her habit of devouring children.

In the myth, Lamia was Zeus's mistress and thus incurred the wrath of Zeus's wife, Hera. Hera kills all of Lamia's children and transforms her into a monster that hunts and devours the children of others.

In Double's ending, she devours the entire roster.

I want to know what The Trinity did to earn such worship. They have a Grand Cathedral dedicated to them, and many followers. Even princess Parasoul wears their inverted cross symbol.

J3aTJmn.jpg

A trio of super-powered hosts and parasites formed a religion. Or at least, the religion came later, formed in admiration of the deeds performed in the past.

Both Samson and Leviathan accuse Eliza of ruining everything.

This has essentially been my headcanon since Venus' bio. Although this does raise the question of why did we see Venus and Aeon at the end of Double's story mode. Something tells me that whatever Eliza did, its perfectly possibly she could have somehow insta ban them from the regular plane of reality and thought she killed them.

With Xmas coming up, there's one question I have to ask: Does the Skullgirls universe celebrate Christmas? What I mean is:
1.Does the Skullgirls universe have the same Christmas we have?
2.Do they have something close to our Christmas but it's not called "Christmas"?
or
3.Is it like Star Wars Christmas, where it's not really Christmas?
(Also, sorry if this isn't relevant to this thread. I didn't know where to put it)
