It is good to see another like minded individual! So, thinking about a line from Eliza's story mode...
Humankind twists the facts of our lives into fairy tales. We grace them with power as their champions, and they call us Parasites or reduce our brethren to mere tools.
I think Alex Ahad said the Parasites and Living Weapons have "related, unrevealed origins," no? And that LW have a limited sentience, somewhat akin to a dog?
As such, I think the Living Weapons are Parasites that have had their human-connectivity parts removed, effectively lobotomizing them.
Now, thinking about Krieg... and Hungern... and Tod... Where's the Pest? We know that Krieg was handed down throughout the Renoire family for generations. And that, according to the wiki, "Some Parasites can go into 'minimal' states like a bacteria going into a cyst form, but it won’t last them forever."
I think that, way back when, there was likely some sort of "Four Horsemen Gang" that the Renoires fought on their rise to power. War/Famine/Death were captured and converted to something a little more malleable, but Pestilence got away. Pest can hide. Pest can be patient. Always there, never quite eliminated. "Like a bacteria." Corrupting the Canopy from the roots. Watching. Waiting for the right time to strike.
Now, what about Vice Versa?
Well, we know the Medicis made a LOT of enemies over the years. And we know Cerebella's the only person who's been able to properly use Vice Versa. Given this speculation on how to make Living Weapons, I think there was some goody-goody with a parasite who hated the Medicis and tried to break their operations. The Medicis won, killed the host, and attempted making the parasite a tool they could use. However, they didn't have quite the scientific resources of the Renoires, so the Medicis got something a little more finicky. A proper Mafioso would likely get choked by the hat as soon as he put it on, but if somebody with the original host's nature were to wear it... somebody pure of heart, like a certain circus acrobat... the hat might be more receptive.
That is true!Talk about misinterpretation,
murdering Ms. Fortune was what made Cerebella no longer pure of heart, before then the most she had done was break a leg or stolen something, Fortune's ostensibly done as bad, just for her own family.
Plus the actual act of committing murder is what made Cerebella begin questioning her own allegiances, for as much shit as Bella gets for killing Fortune, people always tend to forget the immense guilt she felt immediately afterwards.
...And, dang it, I just broke my own theory.
Given that synthetic parasites are possible, it's probably simpler to incorporate synthetic Theon features into artificial "Living" weapons. I mean, you could theoretically build a Living Weapon out of death Parasite parts- and, probably, a lot of the earlier ones did just that- but with newer technological developments, it'd be redundant. Like trying to kill elephants with ivory.
Parasoul's new lines seem to indicate he once was in the Canopy military. Maybe an Ex-Egret?
Wait what new audio lines? All I've heard that's different is that characters yell out "Beowulf" when calling him in.
They've got some new pre-round introduction lines for Eliza, Beowulf and Big Band as well as new ones for losing and winning against them.
The fact that Beowulf now needs to have a story mode probably is forcing Alex to build up his lore and create new character relationships. I mean I love Cerebella, but at the moment she's the only playable character with a history with Beowulf and she JUST had a big role in Eliza's story. Poor Parasoul's biggest role outside her story was a brief confrontation in Squigly's, so maybe Alex views this as an opportunity to show some Parasoul love (which I am totally on board with, she's very underutilized for such a cool chick)Interestingly, I remember a while back, someone asked Alex whether Beowulf used to serve in the military, and Alex's answer was negative (I don't remember exactly if he denied it outright or if he said he hadn't thought about it). If this is truly the case that Beowulf is now canonically an ex-soldier, then it seems that we have another fan-inspired idea making its way into SG canon.
It means he's gettin arrested.
"Momma Wolf always said life is like a Wrestling Event. You never know whose gonna step into the ring"Beowulf was a character with exactly one line of lore before the IGG, guys: "he's a famous wrestler." The lore for him now could literally be anything, now that Alex is forced to write more. I like to think that Beowulf will be this Forrest Gump type of link to every major event in the Skullverse for the last 20+ years, totally by chance.
Oh, I never properly expressed how much I love this idea.
You mean the delay mentioned here? Yeah I'm with you on that, the Story Modes have only gotten better since Squigly so I'm sure that they're pulling out all the stops for Beowulf. Even if it means some delays.
I was expecting some silly head canon like you would find in the Squigly Fanboy Thread, but that makes a lot of sense.
Black Dahlia shot her through the side of the head, it wouldn't make any sense for the exit wound to be her eye.
I was just about to say that, but Squigly does have separate entry and exit wounds from her death.
Well... Actually that dosn't make scence...One question that I always wondered was "How does Leviathan normally join his hosts?"
With Squigly, it was a combination of Black Dahlia having shot a hole through her head and Leviathan eating her eye. I would assume that joining with Leviathan under normal circumstances would be a lot less morbid.
Anyone have a theory about this?
How Leviathan normally transfers
Caught up in the moment, bursting through shoulders and gnawing through optic canals that's how Lev might have transferred. Passed down through generations of the Contiello family, I agree, there must be something less violent. Perhaps Leviathan could spin himself into a long thread, like spider silk to ease from one ear to another. The elderly Contiello, ready for death, urges Leviathan to part to a young Contiello who is old enough to know what they are agreeing to. Maybe Lev can simply reach out and "melt" into the new host's skin, or travel via something not unlike a simple blood transfusion. All very peaceful and almost painless, but incredibly slow processes.
