Psh, what has he won recently?

I won't lie. I hope to see this game in the future. I mean come on guys, im sure the dev team can learn from their mistakes and make Beasts Fury the way it was supposed to be made. This game deserves a second chance like all valuable creatures do. so yeah...beasts fury I hope to see you again

This game deserves a second chance like all valuable creatures do.
It had a second, third, fourth. By a rough estimate this was its fifth chance.

well im still gonna put my faith into this project. they are smart human beings so they can learn from their mistakes

IIRC, itz the 8th time.

they will always have chances to redeem themselves. that's just what I think

To be fair, you CAN have two chars that form up your demo to show the game off. But the way they went around it was all wrong. You want to focus on one char, have then as done as possible, and maybe a second char, or twist on the first, like with what I hear Mike kinda did with Filia in the early days? Show off what other chars could play like, but don't put so much effort into them that you have to detract from finishing everything else first!

exactly. maybe they will (hopefully) do that in the future when they decide to come back to the project :)

I think they should put that $1,000 flexi funding money into more cleanup on Don's ultimate finisher. Stick with what they know.

Nope.

It failed. There is no need to be insulting beyond that, everyone.
Facts have a liberal bias, Mike. I keep on trying to say things about this scam, but there's no way I can describe it without seeming insulting because there was nothing good about any of it.

I don't think calling it a scam is entirely correct. Scams imply ill intent. This is more a series of terrible decisions that culminated in failure heaped atop failure. I think their intents were mostly pure, just terrible application

They said publishers are looking into them, right? Well. I hope they let themselves get picked up (As opposed to trying a sixth fundraising campaign... god forbid...). Maybe with a clear cut budget for what they can and can't afford will help them focus on what's important? Maybe drop x-rays and character specific attacks?

I would definitely play the finished product, what ever it may end up being. I just hope after all the effort and money that people have put in, both fans and devs, that it wasn't all for literally nothing.

precisely! Like I said this game, if steered into the right direction, deserves a second. Mainly because it has potential to be a great fighting game.

What specifically shows "potential to be a great fighting game?"

I am also curious where you got that impression, beyond "I think the characters look cool". The developers have systematically ignored most suggestions about how to improve the actual game part, and the demo they made is not...great...

Maybe he's able to forgive much as long as characters do look cool.

Like me. Which might have caused more pain that it was worth it.

i just hope people who did give money get the stuff they were promised. If they don't then... RIP.

You can play as a shark
a LOAN shark. IT'S FUNNY CAUSE IT'S WORD PLAY. AH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH~!

let's be honest the characters were kinda... one dimensional. The fighting system was incomplete, and that's being nice. They took a long time to getting around to making the demo, where they wanted to have two characters fully animated and coloured out, instead of just having the rough animations placed in and working on the coding and ironing out the playstyles of both characters. You know like how Mike did it in the early betas of SG where Filia still had some rough frames. They basically ignored help from people, mostly from Mike which I find is insulting to him because Mike knows about making a indie fighting game, he would be one of the first people I would go and talk to asking for help and guidance. There is just a huge laundry list of this stuff that the Dev crew has done to shoot themselves in the leg, repeatedly, and still act like they can get crowd funding from a huge market. Yes the animations are okay, but that's all the game has that's going for it. Idk... maybe comparing this to SG is a little unfair. Mike was working on the engine by himself for many years before meeting up with Alex. Sigh... it still ticks me off looking back at this, just seeing these guys bumble around and when ever help is offered they either slap it away or forget about within a week.

If an other indie fighter ever comes around I kinda want the SG community to be there to help, but to also suggest to the dev crew to talk to Mike if they are not already.

Annie wasn't in it. It couldn't have been that bad.

heh, no Annie would have improved it by 100 fold. And she's the worst dlc character ever. ( sorry DDB, i still love you and your unhealthy fan love for Annie )

but even she couldn't change the course of this game going off of a cliff.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd absolutely love to see more great FGs appear, and will personally support the ones that seem to have that potential. But like with anything that doesn't mean saying that things are fine when they aren't, and being asked/guilted/whetever into pretending that they are is a big red flag.

aye... in the end i just want to help dev groups out. by pointing them to Mike Z and he did to make SG super awesome.

sure, but who says they can't learn from their mistakes. If anything beasts fury can be a prime example on how to make better decisions when it comes to managing money for the game. Like I said in the previous post they just need to be steered in the right direction.

You didn't actually answer Broken Loose's question

I too wish I could be positive about this, because I really admire the work of the main animator/designer, but the devs' mayor problem is not their lack of skill and knowledge -it comes right after, that is- but the stubborness. They don't want to learn. Not even from MikeZ.

hard work put into the game that meets the demands of fans via it be graphics, inputs, character design, etc. Pretty much like skullgirls and Street fighter V

okay let's make a check list for that...

Graphics: Yeah sure the animation is good the background work is fine ect ect. pass

Inputs: Mhhhh no, the inputs in the demo were sticky and didn't have a good flow to the whole thing. Some moves could be done with less inputs than described in the move lists. IE: Gigan Knuckle is a half circle forward could be done by tapping back than forward. Fail

Character Design: To be honest there were only two characters that kinda popped out and had a bit of there character built into them, one was the dancer bird lady and the other was the detective croc. Everyone else seemed flat, like Vincent is some Kung Fu expert that uses chi to destroy his enemies, but he only wears a grey trench coat, baggy brown pants and boats... that just doesn't seem visually interesting, it doesn't make me stop at the character select screen and say "Hmmm who is this dude? He looks cool and kinda badass. I want to try him out."

It doesn't help that the camera is pulled back slightly so that it's harder to see details on the characters in a match, where as in SG the camera is a tiny bit closer so we really get to see all the cool little things that go on with each character. Like with idle animations, in SG they are short loops that are very active, in BF the idles are a little bit slower and a lot less action is going on. we don't get to see any character come to life in a match and that's what kills it for me, everything seems so ho hum, half hearted, even the moves look mediocre and uninteresting. Heck Vincent's j.mk and j.hk look practically the same. THAT IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD NEVER DO IN A FIGHTING GAME! YOU GOTTA MAKE EVERY MOVE LOOK DIFFERENT AND HAVE SOME FORM OF IMPACT, WEIGHT TO IT, MAKE THE PLAYER FEEL THAT MOVE.

sure, but who says they can't learn from their mistakes.
You are being optimistic to the extent of ignoring reality, and I don't understand it.

This is the 5th time they asked people for money, each time promising more and more things that were unrealistic, and delivering less.
They worked for some years on a publicly released demo which has fairly obvious large problems, and ignored most feedback about it, deciding instead to work on animated finishers.
They were super defensive when asked basic questions like "Where did your money go?"/"How can you pay your team?"/"Why is X thing broken in the demo?"
At this point it's THEM saying they can't learn from their mistakes.

This is not an overly negative viewpoint, these are all facts.
They do not properly budget or scope, they did not properly prioritize what must be done, and what they delivered was extremely lackluster and poorly constructed.

So, what leads you to the optimism?

you're right about that, of course you would be you are the famous mike Z. But what leads me to be so optimistic about the game is that what leads many people optimistic about a a cool concept from a fighting game. All this is in my opinion but since I fell in love with the concept I really wanted the project to to succeed. Call me a fanboy if you will. I do acknowledge that they have made foolish mistakes that (possibly could have) killed the game for good, but again me being a fanboy only makes me want these guys to get there heads on straight and fix the game. Again all of this is just my opinion.

So, what leads you to the optimism?

Hype mental programming is a strong thing Mike. People actually think Bethesda's games are good solely because of hype appeal. They'll flatly deny reality in order to convince themselves that their 60$ preorder was money well spent.

Things like Beast's Fury make me glad that while I am still budding and way over my head, I'm willing to put effort and personal time into my own projects. I don't know if the same can be said for them, but you can't make a good public image or even a good indie game without knowing and respecting your audience. Being humble and accepting help or criticisms are key here, and they just didn't. At times they did, but not often enough or not on things important enough to really make this into a success. Sad really.

Good grief. While I feel bad about the team that lost out, I also don't think they really, and honestly, tried. Justr... Most of my points was already stated above and doesn't need repeating. Maybe the artist team can move on and make cartoons or help other dev teams... The programer though? pppfff ahaha XD
