Fukua General Discussion

Keeping in mind that Mike thinks that a bad assist call deserves to be punished with a dead character (i.e. double snap), a ToD for 5 meter is really not that harsh.
I think they're talking about a 1v1 ToD, which is a little more severe than losing a character on a 3-char team. Not disagreeing with you, though.

True, although since 1v1 is out of 2 rounds I think it's equivalent to losing a character on a 2v2 game.

It could still be possible, but I've been trying to only fit in her hardest hitting normals and still haven't quite hit a ToD.
Edit: Realized you likely were searching for a ToD with her lvl 5 super than with 5 bars spent elsewhere, but figured the video might as well stay here.

Neither Mike nor I have been able to TOD with Fukua using level 5. Mike says he's OK with it not killing. More than likely because by the time you get 5 bars in, say, 2v2 (or it you're solo in 3v1) you won't need to do 100%.

Look at the video Muro posted that I recorded on the above post and see how much health I drop with just level 3 into combo before I do the last two supers.

Mind you, that might be changed since she needs tweaking etc.
 
Due to the 360 detection that makes it so she can do a standing 360 motion without jumping in the middle for her lvl 5, she originally wasn't able to do a SF2 tiger knee input to do an air fireball immediately when she jumps
Correction: She wasn't able to do that if you are a poopy player and do awful D,DF,F motions with some extra Back directions in there. *I* could do them just fine.

Things are getting modified.
 
Brain Drain sure is good at his job. Fukua appears to be the perfect Anti-Skullgirl at the moment.

Solo Fukua vs Nightmare Marie. Start the match with qcf+HK and just keep repeating that move over and over. With good timing, Marie will be too dazed by the attack to react. Block when she changes to form 2 and repeat the previous tactic. If she manages to slip a projectile through and pushes you back, qcf+KK to effortlessly get back in her face. When she moves to form 3, spend whatever meter you have on lvl 1 supers and that should be the end of that.
 
That's much likely Parasoul. You can get to Marie's third form without any problem just by spamming j.HP j.HK. When Marie's in her third form, lvl 3 xx Egret Call to clean the screen and finish Marie with j.HPs.

Well *I* never tried doing them in the first place and only presumed that it had been an issue after you provided a fix for it, so nyeh.

Why not just modify her idle stances a bit more and just make her Samson, OR, somewhere in between.

Samson is designed to be a giant juggernaut character, what if, during the cloning process the DNA from Filia and Samson became one new creature. Rather then being of two separate minds, with one dominating the other off and on, what if the new clone is somewhere in between?

You could add some of Samson's current art and stances, it would fit the world properly without being an obvious clone character and it would explain the modified playstyle.

Thanks! It's good to be here. And I'm not suggesting that we use anything that's not already in the game, just that it's already been stated that the character would get fleshed out a LITTLE, I'm saying use existing assets to canonize in my suggested way.

I understand that, but there aren't that many assets for Samson other than what Filia/Fukua already use. And drawing new assets to the level of polish Skullgirls is known for won't happen for free. And since the character will be free, there is no return of investment.

Sad to say it will definitely not happen.
 
Semi meter waste combo. I was experimenting using love dart as an otg and did this.
blown kiss->lp. love dart->best friends->twice shy

It works at a specific range near the corner (too far or close and love dart misses) and blown kiss ends up using a red bound. A normal combo can be done after twice shy. And a well called assist will let you combo after lovedart instead of spending meter.

Currently trying to append variatios of this to the end of my other combos.
 
If Fukua was so bad, why not give her a lv. 2 Morrigan super that splits her in two?

If that happen, the consoles could handle it?, you know for the limited space RAM, etc.

Is it me, or is the timing to combo into air super from an air throw just suuuuuper strict and/or character/height specific?
 
I didn't even realize you could do that. From what I can tell combo'ing off her airthrow in general is very very height specific. But luckily since you can easily make people end above you in combos lots of setups for call assist airthrow.

Yeah, consoles aren't even able to handle DHCs and tagouts without replacing the exiting character with japanese porn.

If it were doable, though, I'd be all for it.

Just me being a scrub, I'm not able to do much combo-wise, but I like having a fireball among other things. I definitely like her more than Filia, really wanting to put her on my team.
I use Filia solely for the DP assist, what assist do you think would replace that job the best with Fukua? Possibly hard drill?

Yes, hard drill is the only thing even remotely like updo. It doesn't hit upwards though and it is harder to convert off of.

Hm. Maybe I'll run a three man team and just put more effort into not having a shit Valentine.

Elsewhere, today at the Indy monthly tournament, I got bodied by a Peacock/Big band, so I yolo-switched to solo Fukua and almost had a solid runback. almost. still got bodied. xD
 
Will Fukua have a Tutorial like the other characters?

And it's not invincible as an assist so it's really nothing like Updo..

Huh... I was wondering why it was weird that it was getting beat out so much.

As much as I hate dealing with really strong assists, I kind of rather it had that hit invincibility. It would give people an incentive to do something other than slapping on hornet bomber/catheads at the end of every team (which people will do anyway).

yah the only part that is hit invulerable is the start up, it really is not that good

didn't even know you could combo after air throw, I just take the untechable knock down
 
It is not invincible at all as an assist.
it was never invincible, just hit invulnerable
 
Two things:
- I have two choices for airthrow: remove the untechable sliding knockdown and allow you to combo air super easily (possibly air fireball though I doubt it), or keep the sliding knockdown and remove the ability to combo air super afterward no matter how hard you try. Which would people prefer?
- I'd like to give her back LP->LK as a chain, so she's Painwheel. I'm pretty sure nobody will have a problem with this. In exchange, she might lose LPx2. I'm wondering if people will have a problem with that. She may, though, gain cr.LKx2 because shoto. :^P

Also I kinda like the hard knockdown on the air throw. Makes her distinct and its still a really good tool.

Not sure how I'd feel about losing LPx2. I honestly rarely use it outside of my last chain in a combo. c.LKx2 would be interesting.

Painwheel says hi. (In fact that's why she has LP->LK.)

And she originally lost hit invin on assist Drillationship (I love typing that) because I was aiming for too-awful instead of too-good for a 3-day character. Now I see it wouldn't be that much more powerful.

Possibly, but it's a low priority as far as tutorial content goes. If she's going to be a permanent character, she may as well get something, in my mind.

She's on the list of tutorial to-do's, right behind tutorials for things like pushblock guard cancel, drama, IPS, and expanded/improved tutorials for the rest of the characters.

None of that takes into consideration the cost of localizing any new text into six different languages, which isn't included in the budget we made from the IGG campaign. That money would have to come from somewhere.
