Help Advertise Indivisible!

The whole humorous idea to get attention scares me though. I don't think I'm down for it.
Yeah, honestly I feel like it will give people the wrong idea. The problem is though is that the defaults don't really upvote content for games that are new/not really mainstream, unless it is something humorous or a meme of some kind. Honestly I think we'd be more effective getting the message across through multiple specific subreddits than the defaults.

hmmm maybe some video game genre subreddits? Like Platforms or Rpgs? We could also try other subreddits too of course, those are just some ideas.

"Indie Devs Make Game about Attacking Ramen Noodles in Run Down Building" coupled with a gif of Razmi glaring at angry ghosts?

And don't forget ones that are for specific games that Indivisible is similar to in some way, e.g. VP, Metroid, Chrono Trigger, etc.

Just a small update:
The post from my RP character page has been seen by 26 people, and has 2 likes, with 1 physical click on the post itself and 4 "Read More" clicks. So hopefully more people see it and click it.

And from my normal page it's been seen by 5 people, with only 2 clicks to read more about it (as the post was really long, there's a "read more" button)

I finally caught up with a few of my friends that I knew were Skullgirls fans. No surprise, they didn't even know Lab Zero was working on a new game, and these guys are way more into RPGs than they are fighting games. I don't get it. How did they know enough about SG to support the IGG, but not even know about Indivisible after so many months of announcements?

With this in mind, even if you assume most of the SG Backers were $1 Monsters, I'm willing to bet that still leaves 3-4k missing SG Backers that would want to support this campaign if they knew about it. There's gotta be a missing link somewhere.

I know there have been at least two already, but maybe more updates about Indivisible still need to be sent to the SG campaign? Maybe there should be a Sticky about Indivisible on the Steam forums? Has Sony even reported on it yet? Have all of the Skullgirls VAs tweeted about it? What sort of promotion was IGG planning?

On the plus side, it seems like a lot of supporters so far are actually discovering the game for the first time, and enjoying the prototype. As long as the person isn't unduly allergic to RPG-style battles, or coming off of a 4chan hatewagon, the response tends to be fairly positive. The prototype is definitely the campaign's strongest asset, so thank goodness for that!

There's been a couple of emails that did trickle in from the IGG SG Campaign about Indiv.. Not sure how many people still have it tagged as "follow" though

I am of the reverse opinion I never heard about this until stumbling upon it in the forum very recently. No major outlets have reported on this or anything of that nature so no one knows this exists. This is also on idegogo and there is a lot more momentum on kickstarter atm.

Updated a topic on another forum I goto. Thought I did when the campaign launched but didn't x,x Hopefully they try the prototype and give opinions about it... so far only 1 person replied to the topic and that's back when I first made it x,x

edit: http://skullheart.com/index.php?threads/anyone-a-3d-model-maker.8278/
if you guys know any 3D Model creators, please leme know or ask them about this. I may of lost all my animation tools when my computer died, but I still have 1, which is my Super Smash Bros Brawl animation studio. Only down side is I can't test the animation in game as this laptop can't run it (shoot, barely ran Indiv lol)

Actually, you kinda sound like the type of situation I'm describing, especially if you backed the Skullgirls Indiegogo. What do you think would have caught your eye before coming to the forums? Where are you usually getting your news from these days that's apparently failed to mention the campaign?

I don't remember having to do nearly as much word-of-mouth to friends when it came to the Skullgirls IGG, so it's really confusing me. It seems like my friends that followed Skullgirls were also keeping better track of what Lab Zero was doing around that time too, but now they're not. Maybe the EVO Breast Cancer Drive had something to do with it?

And it's not like Indivisible is experiencing a general lack of interest either. Regardless of timeframe, we've already hit nearly 1/4 of the SG IGG's total amount with less than 1/5 the number of Backers, and many of these people didn't even play Skullgirls. I think there's still the potential for some big funding spikes if more of Lab Zero's missing fans can get the memo, and join forces with these new supporters.

Btw, my friends looked super excited when I showed them the game. People want this thing and just don't know it yet.

stuff
fwiw I have something small in the pipeline for this. Unfortunately uni work has delayed me a bit over the past few days.

I've had a few people watching the campaign video and not wanting it, then I told them to play the prototype and most of them changed their minds.
For the few that didn't, their main gripe was that it was too easy apparently, told them to find that and then they were convinced of the game.

So the prototype actually works.

I'm messaging Tripple Q about it on Steam right now, he's not known for gaming entirely but has a pretty decent following.
He said it was okay, i'm trying to warrant him sharing it without him removing me.
This feels like defusing a bomb.

Enthusiasm is great, but remember not to make a nuisance of yourself. Not everybody is going to want to or be able to help, and that's fine, and you can always redirect energies to convincing other people who might be more willing to help.

Maybe we should walk the honest road for reddit, just drop in to say there's this VP-inspired game that is having a crowdfunding right now from SG devs.

Edit: oh and also let know that there's a reddit for it!

Question: For those of us who haven't really heard of Valkyrie Profile, much less played it, is there something else to compare the combat to? "Classic JRPG Combat without Menus?"

There are other games that have battle systems kinda sorta similar to VP that people may have played. The Tales series and Sands of Destruction (though that one might be even less know than VP) come to mind.

I mostly check IGN and Reddit for gaming news. I am actually a big lab zero fan so as soon as I heard about it I backed it. You have to think about it this way, with the skullgirls campaign lab zero had just accomplished that donation drive for charity giving them a lot of publicity. They then set up a campaign with great publicity tools. They had stretch goals (Indevisible does not have it's either game is funded or it isnt and stretch goals moral or not generate hype). They had a good intro video (Indevisible does not have this the Intro should serve as a TLDR for the campaign with the developers explaining stuff, our intro video just displays the trailer then the prototype with a few extra goodies in there). Skullgirls also had a good sob story to gain sympathy and donations (not being demeaning but going hey we have had the shittiest luck ever and want a tiny bit of cash to make you guys a character we can give for free sounds way more appealing then hey we need 1.5 mil for our new game so the publisher can cough up the rest). There are a few more issues advertising wise but those are some of the bigger ones. I once again love this game and love Lab Zero but from what I've seen of this campaign it is a perfect example of how to nail a moral campaign and a perfect example of what not to do from the business angle.

About stretch goals, they do talk about them on the campaign page (they even have a whole section dedicated to it at the bottom of the page) and they say that they will reveal them once it comes to that point.
I agree that a video by Lab Zero explaining the campaign would be very good (even if it is just going over what they say on their page, people have short attention spans haha). The trailer for the game was important though. Skullgirls had the advantage that the game had already been released so they didn't need to introduce what the game was all over again, Indivisible is a completely new game so the trailer was necessary in showing the game off.

Maybe they should have done a later segment in the same trailer explaining the campaign like they did with SG's

Yes but saying we will reveal them when we get that point means we don't have them now meaning my point about them not being there still stands :p

Im gonna design a poster to advertise the IGG with SS of the prototype and a QR Code to send it to donate.

I was just thing of exactly that, so that it could be included on posters and stuff.

If you make a QR code that leads to the indivigogo campaign, make sure to post it here to so others can use it in promo stuff too please

Edit: Indivigogo was a glorious accident
yep that would be an excellent idea. Especially if you make it with the posters like Vadsamoht said.
Man, a little over 24 hours since they've reached 200K and they've only made $9,886... EDIT that 9K went to $10,896 now.

what I find more disturbing is that's it's been 6 days and only a single sorta big youtuber made a video on it

So, there's something I hesitate to mention- the "Let's Save Lab Zero" factor. Not in a pity way, but in a "Save Channel Fifty-Two" from UHF kind of way. Don't get me wrong, Indiv is fun, I want to play more of it, and I'm glad I've put in what money I can, but I worry that might not be enough to get other people really into it.

Kind of why I brought up the advertising subject... I'm worried about the company as a whole.. if this game fails, everything we love will be pretty much gone. L0 is a damn fine company and it'd be terrible to see som'in like that happen to em =\ Why I want this to succeed. I want them to continue to do what they like to do, while being together as a team. They've done amazing things already and it'd be pretty much lost if they happen to fold cause of this not working out... so... Let's help them, and not just the game.

I would shamelessly plug him but I don't have the bandwidth ad processing power to use the chat <,>

Also, just watching MAx's stream here and I notice the flood of fanart at the start... maybe we could draw some Indiv/Youtuber fanart and they'll probably reblog the shit out of it ;P

Actually, I think a good way to get this to Maximilian would be to also share it with his wife JaeJae. She seems generally more interested in these kinds of games, and it might give them a good excuse to play a game on stream together. I have no idea how to send communication to both of them though.

Well, Max mentioned it on stream and mentioned something about streaming it at some point, so I guess he knows.

Of course, the guy next to him just had to crap all over the entire thing for not being totally funded in a day.

This I find to be more immediately relevant -- especially the part starting at 6:11

AND i'll partially disagree with you.

While Lab Zero should be an example to EVERY SINGLE INDIE DEVELOPER IN THE WORLD and the complete opposite of the Sunset guys, Skullgirls isn't an indie title, Indivisible will NOT be an indie title: L0 had a publisher before (autumn games, then Marvelous), they have one now (505 Games) and the whole scope of the project is MUCH bigger than 80% of the "indie" games on Steam right now.

Hell, while the funding sure as hell isn't something for a Triple A, Many of these indies "flooding" the market are projects way smaller! As much as games like Dustforce or Shovel Knight are amazing, they were made with a smaller team, simpler assets and less money!

Lab Zero is aiming higher here, More than anything else, there must be a way to show people that!

Well, i'm depressed now... i'll think if there are any good brazillian youtubers that go beyond "let's play the minecraft mod of the day", "Let's another jumpscare simulator while i make funny faces" or "Let's play that old Snes-era game that you loved/never knew it existed and make funny faces" and try to ask for their help.

Cool he plans on it, sucks the other guy was a dick.
