...Josh's struggle to not suck...

I felt like if she was in this thread she would have said it, so someone should

alright fair enough

Deep apologies for the biased, unintelligent commentary that was bred that night. We were a little harsh towards Josh, and honestly didn't even think about the enjoyment factor anyone would feel watching it :/
Don't worry. we all shit talk. its a fucking videogame. that said....every single one of you that was talking was stupid. Please record more of this though so i can see how josh continues on his journey.

ALSO KEEP TO THE FUCKING TOPIC OF GIVING CLEAN ADVICE. if he doesn't listen then stop giving advice if you feel like he'll waste your time. its what I do

1) Milk + Cole, you guys are dicks. Nothing you say can change that
2) That was pretty funny, nevertheless.

Bella-4.png oh hey... thought bubble Josh. Do this kinda thing on a slight bi-weekly basis. One of us can commentate and throw out some advice to you in-between the matches. Also we'll keep it PG next time. i know that i was kinda erm... drunk and i think Milk and Niko were too. :S sorry if we came off as assholes. we just want you to take those hours and turn them into something aye?

yo a bi weekly josh improvement stream or recording is something I'm totally up for.
It'd give me a reason to stream again.

Again, terribly sorry for our unnecessary insults towards Josh, but quite honestly, Milk and I are FAR from being egotistical assholes considering our natural timid personalities. And, frankly, I'm already considering taking that video down, I hardly ever negatively speak in such a fashion towards an individual and I feel like a total shit-head for doing so. But obviously, the damage is clearly already done.

So I just have a few things to say about this entire ordeal and that video:
1. FUCK YOU @Creepy Cole, @Super Milk Chan
2. Don't shit talk someone who did not want to fight the match to begin with and only did it to shut you fuckers up
3. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT WHEN I WAS 5 BEERS IN??????? PERFECTION!!!!!!
4. This entire ordeal has made me realize I'm not having fun with this game any more and I need to focus on IRL stuff cause my health, mental stability, grades, and general attitude on life sucks because all I do all day is think about this game and why I'm not getting better. I need a breather to get my shit together so that when I start training "for real" I can do it and not have to worry about all the other shit in my life that's put on hold so I can "get better" at this game.
5. FUCK YOU @Creepy Cole , @Super Milk Chan

I didn't expect perfection, I know that you're working on you're inputs and all that. I'm garbage at this game. I have no right to judge. The only time I ever, ever make fun of someone is if I don't like them or I respect them. I feel the latter, you're a way better player then me, and you know me Josh. I'm never serious, except when I am.

Taking breaks is important. Come back in a few weeks, and you'll have a fresh perspective, and may even notice improvement since you left.

Good luck. Btw if you're gonna take a break you might wanna cancel from gllt's 1v1 kumite asap. Or fight it. Up to you.

Then make your own.
You convince random strangers that you're actually worth playing against when you live in Japan and they're conditioned to treat anyone with 200+ ping with a flaming torch and a pitchfork

Your choice to live in japan. Anyhow my work is done here and i shouldnt clog this thread with something that is moot. Everyone else should do the same.

Seriously josh. I sincerely wish you the best. I encourage positive growth but i understand when a plataeu is reached and one must take a break so take a break.

I just want to make this clear. I'm not quitting. I'm taking a break from playing online and doing these "matches to get better" cause it's not helping and it's making me more and more angry. What I am doing instead is I'm training for about an hour each day offline so I'm not disturbed by fight requests and streaming and this way I can walk away from the game whenever I want and not feel bad about leaving someone. I plan on improving away from any ones gaze and when I come back to play online in a few weeks your not only going to see new combos but you will see me win (I'm a man of my word and this is not over confidence this is the inevitability of this break).

Next this idea of the bi-weekly thing if you guys want to start it go ahead I would love it and it will give me some really good help not only for myself but for anyone else that wants to watch and is looking to improve (I'll even make the thread...). I have a few requests though for it if it's a thing:
1. I choose the time (so I don't play drunk again and get pissed on stream)
2. The opponent does not get to talk on it till after the matches and the commentators are not allowed to talk to the opponent till after the match
3. Sets will be FT10
4. You are not to talk to me till after the match
5. I would like to see if a different guest commentator could join each time to get different perspectives
6. I will stream it (so as to not lose the channel again because someone streamed porn...)
7. I want it to be informative not a shit show like last time
8. Only one commentator along with the guest commentator (so it's not impossible to watch)

To be fair and to be honest I'm not angry about the commentary or the match so much as I am mad at myself for neglecting to train properly and try to jump into things head first expecting to do well. This has been a long time coming and this needed to happen.

I've been second guessing everything I do not only in this game but IRL and it's showing in the way I play.

So thank you to everyone that has shown concern but your not getting rid of me that easily.... GET READY FOR A SHOW STOPPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O.O

I spend most of my time in this game offline in training mode too
that's where the true players are

You won't get a whole lot better if you don't play against people tho...

@CaioLugon fundamentals are more important then experience. I have over 800 hours of match experience I don't need any more I need training time to hone what I know and apply it so I'm not wasting my time dropping combos, resets, and baits.
You'll see the results of three days offline tonight

Fundamentals are exactly the reason why you need to play people, you can have all the resets and the best execution but it won't matter if you can't get hits in the first place

so the results of taking a break are very apparent to me. I finally can relax and enjoy myself when I play and I've now learned the art of daigo (adaptation and altering my style) I still need more work on my execution under lag but that's not super important I just need to have more confidence in myself and my reads.

So after hearing input from other players and trying to understand this game I've come to some conclusions:
1. Play your opponent based on net health rather then individual character health (what this means is instead of optimizing for combo damage optimize for team damage unless it will kill.... so snap at the end of combos instead of using supers this way you can secure damage and you can deal with problem assists and be given an incoming situation which is beneficial)
2. Abuse the clock and abuse the fact that no one is paying attention to the clock so play to win not to kill because a win is a win
3. Constantly change style of play to keep the opponent on their toes
4. Go for the simple stuff online cause fuck lag(seriously though fuck lag)
5. Don't press buttons during a combo unless your opponent has reset you 3 times in a row (this does not mean I'm going to mash if you reset me 3 times so don't get any ideas...)
6. Figure out what your opponent does in a combo so a sub routine would be: (1. burst bait to test mashing, 2. grab reset to test nothing, 3. low reset to test up back, 4. block to test American reset response) the trick is to mix each of these to condition so do 2 burst baits in a row then go for a grab if they don't bite or if they are mashing out of resets burst them.
7. Counter call people
8. Evaluate what your opponent does at match start by walking back to avoid getting hit with a grab or a possible super then the next match do the same thing and see if they are consistent and counter the next match

So next what I need to do....
1. Keep coming up with new baits, combos, and resets cause as of right now every thing I have come up with has worked better then I expected it to in every situation
2. Learn how to run stop so I can make everything I do safe with each of my characters
3. Implement analysis based tools into my game play so I can play chess rather then guess
4. Develop better reversal options rather then super (cause that does not work all the time and I have better options that I can make safe by super into DHC shinku)
5. KEEP FUKUA ALIVE BY ANY COST!!!!! (not only is she one of my best characters but she is my go to safe DHC my storm you could say)
6. Reduce my tag in frequency
7. Alpha counter smarter
8. Jump less and grab more on the ground
9. Learn the art of ringlet psyche

Josh you need to keep an eye out for when you used up that purple bounce. Cuz right now you don't know combos enough to figure out what to do after you used up your otg early and then pull something out your ass until you're in a position to reset. It's also one of the big things that causes you to drop combos and lose momentum.

Could you explain that for me a little bit please

@joshb911 if someone hits the ground. then you should see a purple effect. that's the signal that you have otg. it is a given rule that if someone is hit with the assist then its a green bounce and that allows for the opponent to tech.

H shadow 9/10 will eat otg if you choose to go with that combo. so you need to produce otg-less corner carry combos.

I see. I see so any time an opponent is in the air and I hit them with an assist it's considered an OTG ok that makes sense for why I drop my combos when I hit people out of the air

Blue = you can hit them if they don't ground tech. Except everyone does and should unless if they're at max undizzy.

unless if your assist is beat extend. Then you have all the time in the world to juggle/restand/otg/popoff/lmfao/bbq

Of course I did. I didn't realize that assist OTG were counted as combo OTGs it makes sense why it would be that but I never picked up on it.

Also why does no one use s.lk in the second ground chain for Bella's bnb?

Also why does no one use s.lk in the second ground chain for Bella's bnb?
Because not much damage difference. Because it means you have to switch from stand to crouch normals which can be annoying. Because s.lk makes you move back so it may make the c.mk whiff in some situations.
