Yeah it's not great? It's also not weighting tournament results the way I think it should. Like I think Chilldog should be higher since placing at Evo should be worth a lot more. I also think the value of placing Nth at such and such a tournament should decay over time, which would give you a better sense of who the best players are right now (since me being that high on there is kind of a joke, it would be like having Viscant 4th in Marvel).

That's actually how it works though. The ratings DO decay over time (that's why Chris G isn't #3 anymore) and bigger tournaments do give you more points. Its just that Bigger Tournament =/= a good turnout for SG.

The way the points system works, 4th place at Evo is worth more points than winning a major (5th is worth less).

Of course, any ranking system is going to fail hard when there are so few SG Majors. Plus, showing up to a ton of touranments and getting like 8th in all of them is wroth more than taking 1st place once.

This might be the real problem. I go to basically everything so naturally I'm going to have hella points in their system. 9th at a 22 man tournament? Sure have this bag of points.

I can submit the NEC/APEX/Winter Brawl/ECT results in one big bundle next week if you guys want me to!

Well, this series is MS Surface Pro 2 advertainment. So they're less interested in the game and more interesting showing people using their device.

The "do the game then do the real thing" is the advertainment hook.

A good friend works at Geek & Sundry and hooked us up with this, so glad people liked it and McPeanuts and Zidiane had a good time.

I'm actually miffed that there weren't any prizes, though. I feel like MS should've at least given them both Surface Pro 2s for participating.

Well, they got our addresses, and Peanuts said they were thinking about maybe sending us one of the things. Not sure if they will, I haven't gotten one yet at least, but they may still. Maybe. It would be cool to finally have a setup to actually play Steam Skullgirls.
 
1. So Mcpeanuts and Zidaine are pro SG players. That is a pretty awesome job, traveling the world playing the best SG competition and getting paid for it.

2. In the boxing match, Zidaine you shoved McPeanuts to win....I don't know how I feel about that. You guys both were very entertaining though, hopefully it does help some more people notice Skullgirls.

3. About points, what if you go to a major and there are only 16 entrants. Do you get points for being top 16?

1. I actually haven't been paid very often or very much for placing in tournaments, and I would barely consider most of the traveling I've done "The World". Most of it's like to Framingham.

2. I meant to push, but I actually didn't think it would have won the match. He was holding his ground, I thought it'd just push his hands away and knock him a little off balance and I'd be able to knock him the rest of the way to the ropes. I forget I'm a big guy sometimes. Sides, it's not like there was a prize, and they told us to go nuts and do jumping-over-the-head-smashes (read: not gentleman's boxing). It was all just fun and games (literally).

I was just playin, I know it was for fun and all. I assume with over the head smashes and stuff, the gloves were very soft and light. Were you guys holding back your punches also?
 
Oh, lol. Sometimes i cant tell.

It was really hard to even land face punches, and movement was overall difficult. Punching power was reduced, but I didn't go easy, and I remember getting hit once or twice by peanuts and I don't think he was pulling punches either.

I was kinda feeling you out for the first round because I wasn't sure how serious we were going, then after I got hit in the head a few times I was sorta like "oh ok that's what we're doing" :P It's all good tho, you can't really get hurt with those gloves anyways.

1. Sometimes I write code too. That's makes up some percentage of my income, probably.

3. I really have no idea what they do. I guess they just give points out based on how many results they have, so if they have top 16 they give points for top 16 but if they only have top 4 they only give points to top 4. There's definitely tournaments on there where they only counted the top 4.

Well, Peanuts is actually good too. He places in tournaments and has legit experience. He's like my mentor. He teaches me to "don't jump". As you saw in the vid, I'm learning.
