Pokemon

Yeah he's completely serious. Level him up beyond thirty and tilt the 3DS upside down during the levelling up to evolve it.

It's really weird but really cool. And worth it because Malamar is a total Lovecraftian beast.

I think they are finally aware of their voltorb/electrode debacle....

I always bring this up whenever my friends say the designs nowadays are lazy.

"They literally turned a Pokeball upside down and gave it eyes. Every design after that is golden."

That sentence usually shuts him up.

my phrase to shut people up about Vanillite is:

"they made a pokemon that is sentient poo-water. Ice cream is fine"

Anyone else have the feeling that

Greninja-1-.png

[\spoiler]

is a blue version of

P4-persona-jiraiya.jpg

[\spoiler]

He even has an attack called

Water Shuriken

[\spoiler]

It would be perfect if not for the fact that it's a Water type instead of a "Wind" type (or Flying or something).

At least the result is worth it.

By the way, got a Mawile. FINALLY. I wonder what the chances are for finding one in that cave actually are, because it felt like 1%. Now to EV train it to become my physical wall and go-to fairy type.

Really? I just happened to run into one (forgot where) and caught it. Hm. Guess that was a lucky break.

Oh yeah, and EV Training is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much more fun and less tedious to do. Super Training...such a good idea. My team is already fully EV Trained and I only have 3 Badges.

Ok so... I haven't been able to sit down and just play the game for long, but i got a few hours in... why have I not made it to the second gym yet?!
THIS GAME IS SO LONG I LOVE IT BUT I WANNA FIGHT GYM LEADERS!

I found it cuz I'm a dumb...

Finally got the game today. The last 2 days without it have been painful. Unfortunately I have a lot of work and have only been able to play up to the first badge so far, but it's been pretty great. The only weird thing is that during the first rival battle your friend has a 3D model as she enters the battle, but then during the first gym battle, the gym leader has a static 2D image like with standard trainers. Seems a bit inconsistent with the bosses. As for the music, it's really unique for Pokemon, but I'm not sure if I like it yet.
Also no one tell me, but I'm hoping that the fact that you can trade for a Farfetch'd in the first in first gym town(which I did) means Farfetch'd finally has an evolution, or at the very least a megalution.

I didn't even think about that as a thing and that sounds amazing...

Not sure if it was mentioned, but apparently the Exp. Share item shares experience with all six Pokemon you have with you, as opposed to one that equips it. I am not sure if it splits the experience earned by 6 for each, but if it is more than that, it will really help with longer Pokemon grinding.

The active one gets 100% experience and I think everyone else gets 50% experience.

Any pokemon that was active gets the full EXP. So if you open with Pidgy and then switch to Fennekin, those two will get the full amount and the rest of the team will get a reduced amount. That's what it looks like to me, at least. Still, the new Exp Share is amazing!

That'd be correct. It's actually a key item that can be turned on and off(defaults to on) now. I was kind of surprised when I first got it, but as long as it doesn't work like the Exp. All from Gen 1, I'm happy. Also you get it really early into the game. In fact, it's the earliest of any pokemon game.

Which is kinda why I'm trying to play my older Pokemon games first.
I'm GONNA be spoiled by that EXP All

Exp. All was what it was actually called in Gen 1. When it was in your bag, it gave every non-active pokemon 1/5 of the exp(or more if you had fewer than 6 pokemon in your party), which is terrible. This had to be a thing though cause no hold items back then.

okay, so far my pokemon with nicknames are:
Braixen: S.Mars
Snorlax: Honda
Ivysaur: Oleander
Eevee: Lucy
Golett: The Giant

whaddya think?

I think you missed the Ralts on Route 4.
I'm amazed by the huge amount of different Pokemon there are in XY's main game. Also noticing that Gen 1 starter that you can apparently get. Cool team so far, can't wait to get an Eevee myself.

if you want a female one IT IS SUPER HARD TO GET! not only is eevee a not common encounter, but the chances of getting a female one are 12.5 percent! D: and no, I prolly will take my time getting a ralts. I hate having pokemon of the same type on my team. lack of type coverage never suits well with me. (eevee doesnt count because she's gonna be a sylveon)

I don't nickname any of my pokemon because I'm a dumb head, but I'm having issues finding balance will all the pokemon choices...

I have Wartortle, Quilladin and Combusken as staples on my team.
Then I've been sticking with Farfetch'd because he's awesome, but he can't help me much as a non-flier.
Just got Tyrunt, but he has no moves so he's not helping much, and I've been keeping Honedge who seems alright.
Last three could be swapped for anything before gym two.

Eh? You have a Honedge? I haven't seen hide nor tail (or should that be blade nor hilt?) of one and I'm past the third Gym. Mind telling me where you got it?

Honedge is awesome! And once he learns Iron Head, he's a Fairy destroying machine!

Right now my team is
Delphox Fire/Psychic - Good Special Attack and Speed while not being too squishy.

Clawitzer Water - Better Special Attack than Delphox! So far though, he's only learned water moves. I was able to teach him Venoshock with a TM.

Aurorus Ice/Rock - So far, ATK and SATK seem about even. Right now it knows Ancient Power, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, and Ice Beam. It's pretty awesome!

Doublade Ghost/Steel - HUGE Attack stat! It knows Sacred Sword, Swords Dance, Iron Head, and Night Slash. Great Type coverage!

Diggersby Normal/Ground - I don't use him much. I just keep him because he's Ground and has Pickup. I'll probably switch him out before the Elite 4.

Lucario Steel/Fighting - He's a good pokemon, but a lot of his good moves come from TMs. The only good move on him right now is Aura Sphere. I'm really only using him for his Megelution.

I'm just here to say that Hawlucha is the most clever damn typing game freak has ever done.

That and Honedge and Hawlucha are the greatest pokemon this gen.

So... is it better to do all the special training early on to have the stats buffed, or wait until later?
or just ignore it because I'm lazy and not going for perfect EVs and IVs...

Super Training is really fun to me, so I just do it early on. Really, you should at least fully train the team you plan to use since battling all types of Trainers will mess up the EVs. Nothing a Reset Bag can't fix, but I've only got one over the entire time I've been playing, so I think they are rare or something. IVs...as long as the stats you care about are in the 20s, I say go for it. Searching for IVs in the 30 where you want 'em is just way too time consuming, and anything below 20 is kinda bad.

Favorite music to Super Train to right here:

Also, just a public service announcement: Apparently there is a glitch where, if you save outside of a building in Lumiose City, your save data may be corrupted. So yeah, be careful.

Saturday I caught a shiny Hippopotas! So much happiness. He even has sand stream. I've been using him as an HM slave for now, since sand stream is annoying as hell on a team that isn't dedicated to it.
Caught Xerneas on the first try with an ultra ball, he was actually in the yellow with no status ailment on him. I'm just getting super lucky this gen.
As amazing as the new Exp Share is, I feel as though it has allowed me to sail through the whole game overleveled. My pokemon are level ~65 and I only have 7 badges. I have never actually trained, I just battle every trainer and 90% of the wild pokemon I see.
So far, my team:
Archimedes the Greninja
Democritus the Vivillion
Socrates the Pyroar
Plato the Gogoat
Caius the Doublade
Aristotle the Hawlucha

On a side note, my tradition of ignoring previous gen's pokemon when building my team for the new gen seems to have stopped me from using mega evolutions...

I HAD BOTH A MALE AND FEMALE EEVEE AND THEN I PUT THEM IN THE DAYCARE THEN I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE POWER BUTTON AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO SO MY 3DS SHUT DOWN AND I DIDN'T SAVE AFTER I GOT THE EEVEES! *flips and table and runs away crying*

Castelia City in B2/W2, though. And that garden thing in D/P sometimes.

Yeah, but they were like 5% encounter rate or something (It took forever to find 7 Eevees worthy of being on my Eeveelution team). Feels like Eevees have a higher encounter rate this time around.
