Yeah I use Ken because he lost an entire play style. You might argue that you prefer the new Ken more (or that he is "improved"), but that doesn't objectively make it fact. There are plenty of players that prefer earlier versions of Ken more... And arguably yes Ken's step kick (not a special but arguably more core to SFIV Ken's kit than fireball or tatsu) is hidden behind a gimmick (and made punishable to boot).
I bring up BB to illustrate that all characters change, so it isn't irrelevant. It is at least more relevant than your bringing up your expertise since you played Alex in TvC, right?
But you're right Rachel players bitched (and Ken players, and Ryu players, etc.) It is your internet-given right to whine and moan and throw as much of a temper tantrum that you want. But let's not pretend that there is a point behind it though. You have as little of an idea as I do why they changed him and what their goal with him is... but hey, at least your character's in the game, right?
And for the record, I absolutely did not move the goal posts. BB was one of 5 examples and was just an illustration of a point... you get that right? Seriously, did you just look up a fallacy on wikipedia and force it to apply? I've made no real assertions at all, so I have no goal post. There is nothing to prove and so trying to make you prove more of something would be silly. In fact, to belabor the point, during the part you are emphasizing, I was the one offering "evidence" (if you really want to call it that) which means that I would be the one that a goal post fallacy would be applied to.
Interestingly, if you want to point out fallacies, you were the one that was making an argument from authority with your "I've played Alex before so you should listen to me"... but I think that calling out logical fallacies (especially by name) just undermines an argument via douchebaggary.
Editing to add:
And for fuck's sake, can someone please explain to me the appeal of earlier versions of Alex anyway? I really just don't get it. He looks like "generic giant blonde guy archetype #3".
