I would most definitely not. Canon story mode is more important, and will actually give Annie something interesting to do when she does eventually get in.
We don't, sure. Alex has said she's important, though, so she's high priority, lore-wise.
I just really, really hope they take care with her swordplay. That's all I want. She can sparkle like the damn sun, for all I care, but if if her swordsmanship is all anime and fake, I won't be able to enjoy her. They've done a pretty good job at including nice nods to accurate form for other characters, so I'd just want the same for Annie.
I'd still want her to be flashy and wild, but functional too. One of her game play inspirations is Sol Badguy and I hope that's only for the clean hit mechanic and not for any visual representation. 'Cause for real, nobody fights like that.I just really, really hope they take care with her swordplay. That's all I want. Canon story mode requirement aside I wouldn't want Black Dahlia to get pushed behind Annie. Not only would B. Dahlia give us some much needed lore on the Medici family, but out of all the characters that did get gameplay concept art hers ranked amongst the most interesting. And I'd rather play an assassin with hidden armaments than Sol Badguy with an anime makeover.
Black Dahlia is the glue that keeps other story modes together.
Because when I look at Annie, the discussion surrounding her proposed mechanics, and her concept art I see more Sol than anyone else. Sure she has other inspirations but she looks like she'll be Sol Badguy v3.0. There's nothing wrong with that since Squigly is Johhny v.2.0 and she's great. And just like Squigly I don't think Annie will approach anything near a 1:1 copy of Sol because of her other inspirations and L0's impeccable record for designing characters inspired by other FG characters.
Platinum could serve as a base for combos, be a reference to having a "magical girl" type character, or for the aesthetics of some of her attacks. It could go a few ways.@PaperBag_Sniper I respect this answer
Edit: @PaperBag_Sniper 1st things first, this isn't me trying to be an ass but I noticed Platinum Trinity as an inspiration. Its evident with the sparkly attacks but what if she plays like Platinum and acts like Sol?
If you want an example, sol has an attack where his fist needs to make contact with (roughly) the chest area of his opponent in order to get a wall bounce, not hitting that clean hit will produce a weak wall bounce that can be air teched and not ideal for combos.
You wouldn't need any new animations really. Just add an explosion on a clean hit.
Or they could be ON FIRE. The game already has fire effects so it'd be easier.
Like 99% of everything in space is on fire.
That sounds so damn metal.
