The Smash Bros Discussion Thread

so this seemed like the best place to put it

but Nintendo is a sponsor at EVO this year
they are learning, aren't they

Interesting. Doesn't Evo feature Project M, though? I heard in an interview with one of the Smash tourney dudes that when asked about P:M they said that Nintendo definitely know about it but don't want to say anything because of all the legality stuff.

It'll be interesting to see if they bring Smash 4 or get some balance advice from the professionals there.
 
They got advice from E3, can't see why they couldn't get advice here.

They'll definitely get a lot more respectful and constructive criticism than if they looked at Smashboards. Or 4chan. Or NeoGAF. Or SRK. Or anywhere on the internet for that matter.

Nah, only Melee is being "featured." If Project M is there, and I'm almost sure it will be, it will only be a side tournament.

I can't imagine a sidesmash not having stunning power haha. Even the weakest one has stoppage power. Now that I think about it, who has the weakest sidesmash? I would guess Zero Suit in Brawl...
 
My question is, can it be reflected?

EDIT: Could Megaman's be reflected? I've seen a few Fox and Megaman games but haven't seen a reflected charge shot yet.
 
Shouldn't Mega Man's have the longest reach? Super fighting robot and all.
 
Multi-hit Smashes usually only launch on the final hit, so I can see this not being too bad. Just DI out of it if you get caught. If I recall in the trailer, it had a LOT of hits.

No smash DI in smash4 would make this probably not possible. Same reason Pikachu's multi hitting attacks were doing a lotta damage compared to other games.

I imagine the smash has very poor kill potential, has slow startup or has looooong recovery. Or a combination of those.
 
Here it is hitting in motion.

I wanna say it looks like the final hit doesn't have as much range as the initial shots.
It also has a bit of startup, and maybe less power than most other smashes, but it doesn't look significantly weaker or anything.

Second, on the Evo schedule, there's an "announcements" thing after the Melee finales. Remember, Nintendo is sponsoring this event, so...

Though that bit about Captain toad dreaming about being in Smash Bros is at least encouraging the Toad Supporters.
Poor guys have it rough so it's nice that they have a bone thrown.

Also if we do get an announcement, I'm just gonna be predictable and say Ridley.

Ultra Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

I do have to wonder, the announcements portion might have to do with Killer Instinct instead of Smash, since it's after both tourneys and the dev team for that seems to be including pretty frequent patches and stuff.
Or maybe it is for Smash, I'm not really getting my hopes up for a character reveal, though.
 
The screen goes dark. The fiery red Smash symbol slashes across the screen like on all the reveal trailers. The crowd roars in excitement. A large shadowy figure flies over Battlefield. Mario and Samus are fighting on it. We see glimpses of wings, a tail... it's Ridley. It's Super Metroid Ridley. He roars proudly, grabs Samus and slams her to the ground. He looks over and see's... a TV.

The Project M logo is on it. He spits a fireball and it blows up. A Reggie Mii falls onto the stage with a lawsuit in hand.

PROJECT M
IS NO LONGER

Reggie slams the lawsuit onto the table, and through the TV bursts the actual Reggienator. He comes out and shoots his lazer eyebeams at the audience as Wii U's rain from the ceiling and the crowd screams in fear

But then Nintendo could buy Capcom.
And have them make Capcom vs. Nintendo as a traditional Capcom fighter.
And it'll be great.
