The Palettes of Skullgirls

Judging from the wording in the patch notes it does refer to something, but other than that I got nothing.

For those who haven't seen

The hair color seems familiar. I want to say I know but dammit I just can't put my finger on it.

So here are so more pre-release palettes that never made it to the final version.
I don't know if these are references or not but... here they are.

They look cool, especially Fortune's.
Damn now i want that palette :(

Me too... Those colors look so familiar...
I'm pretty sure I've seen this before, but I don't know where...
My first thought is that the shading looks like one of the more weird looking colors from Third Strike.

So I'm not sure how this has slipped through the cracks, but I'm pretty sure Painwheel 10 is B. Jenet
Unless you have a citable source it'll remain Original. LabZero actually gave us the list of these palettes.

So Squigly's had a number of colors that were either altered or removed.

Of the ones that were cut, I wish #4 wasn't one of them. I really liked that one.

This is just me, but I find Peacock and Ms. Fortune's references to Morrigan and Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers to look pretty weird. I think I would've liked it better if they referenced BB Hood and Felicia instead.

I'm not sure when this was changed, but Big Band's smooth criminal palette was updated to look a little nicer.

His feet and brass are all silvery now!

Speaking of moving colors around, I was wondering . . . should Lab Zero change Ms. Fortune's #7 (Celty) and maybe swap it with something else? Maybe switch with #4?

Because currently, she's the only one who's #7 isn't an in-universe story reference. Its a small thing, but I just sorta noticed it.

I really wanted 2, 4, 5, and 10 to make it. :c

According to the Wikia, Squigly's palette 21 is a reference to Alice Liddell & The Cheshire Cat. That certainly sounds interesting.

Anyway, having just gotten my hands on Encore, I couldn't help but notice the slight disparity in the number of available palettes per character and am left wondering if Lab Zero has any plans on having everyone with the same amount of options... and from what I'm gathering from some posts here, they are doing that by excluding some palettes so that the max amount is 22 (and maybe fill up the ones that are at 20-21)?

I would love it if they made all the characters have the same amount of palettes. That has been bugging me for the longest time...

In SF Vanilla they have the same amount but since IGG and the colors backers they have diferents amounts because the backers, I prefer they improve the game and release of future DLC chars. more than palletes, but thats is a personal opinion, just hope Eliza have awesome palletes

Improving the game and getting the DLC Characters out are DEFINITELY more important. But palettes are something fun that I (And many other people) enjoy having more of in Skullgirls.

Indeed. And if those things were to be prioritized, I think most of us would prefer new win poses over palettes. It's just that, in principle, in games that offer a variety of characters to choose from, I always frown at "sons & stepsons treatment". But it is not Lab Zero's fault. People paid for the right to decide on a palette, after all.

I'm getting conflicting stories on Squigly 21, actually. Some places say it's the McGee Alice and Cheshire Cat, others say Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the difference in palette numbers. Apparently, Double didn't get any backer palettes, but it didn't stop L0 from giving the rainbow and Skullheart colors.

Double Rainbow was actually a backer request, the only one Lab Zero received up to that time, hence why they decided to give it that special treatment. Don't know whether Skullheart Double is L0's idea or a late backer request, though.

Anyone else wondering about that new Big Band palette from Rebel Up!, has it been confirmed yet? I couldn't make myself, but I was told there was a new one.

For that new bella palette, the closest I can think of it being is the Blob from Marvel, which still seems kind of unlikely

I think it was strongly implied it's Nonon Jakuzure from Kill la Kill. Specifically:

Yes, this is indeed a Nonon Jakuzure pallete, they confirmed in a 86 stream.

Ohhhhh, I kind of missed most of the stream. And I don't watch Kill la Kill either. Though I do like that palette.
