Pokemon

I think the reason it comes off so easy is because most people are using the exp share, which super trains EVERY POKEMON. by the time you get to the gyms you don't ever have to grind because you did going from town to town.
and I honestly like the gyms. while the leaders aren't too story significant, the gym layouts are fantastic. the Fairy's made me feel like I was in Flannery's gym from gen 3 again, and the grass gym was actually kinda fun.

it seems x/y was trying harder to make EV training more accessible sine people were getting their pokemon to be twice as strong as they normally would be. thats fine with me, I've always felt left behind since all my pokemon savvy friends in college are really into EV training.

it seemed to focus more on the gameplay and thats good enough for me.

I personally really like Delphox's design. And gyms are always easy. They focus on a single type. All you need is one good move that's super effective on a Pokemon that's decently leveled. Then you can generally sweep through them with ease. But I do agree that the Gym Leaders felt very plain. I really wish we could see more of them and get to know them better. Same goes for the Elite 4. They really should give these important characters a lot more depth.

It's not the gyms themselves that need to be difficult (though that's a plus if one is), it's the gym leaders that need to be. When I struggle to beat a gym leader, and have to think up an effective strategy just to win, then I'm enjoying myself a lot more than just using a single move over and over again until the battle ends. This is why challenge mode in BW2 was such a welcome improvement (THAT SHOULD BE IN XY FFS).
As for Elite 4, I give them a little more slack in the character requirement, since of course meeting up with them throughout the game would be kind of weird. You usually only see 1 or 0 before you actually fight them. As long as they have a little bit of personality through their dialogue and pose a challenge, they're good.

Edit: Yea, I've also come to the conclusion that the new EXP share was a terrible idea, and is probably mostly to blame for the game being pathetically easy. Most of the game I've been around 15 levels higher than all the pokemon I've fought. It's ridiculous. The only tough battles are sky battles because for me it's 1 pokemon vs 2-3. When Z comes around I'm definitely keeping the EXP share off permanently.
As for gym designs, 3 and 7 are amazing, 6 and 8 are pretty good, and the rest are okay. Maybe I'm just a little spoiled by the crazy things we had going on in BW2, like giant cocoon puzzles, models on catwalks, and giant fighting dragon statues.

Caught Mewtwo and Zygarde earlier this morning. They weren't that hard to obtain. Mawile put Mewtwo in it's place during the battle. Mawile, why you so awesome?

Also, am I the only one who thinks that the 'Hiker' npc's are the Villager's dad and the 'Hex Maniac' npc's are Tomoko Kuroki (WataMote)?

People simply adore the new Hex Maniac.
No matter how we look at it, it's Nintendo's fault she isn't popular.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who saw that immediately. I even tried looking for a picture comparison, but couldn't find any good ones.

Fixed.

I'm usually good with finding parody pics.

I wonder what petting a Legendary in Pokemon Amie is like
I have Xerneas and Mewtwo.
Mewtwo is pretty regular.
For Xerneas, you feel his legs all over and he only allows you to touch his majestic head if you give him a cupcake.

Some things
I counted three gym leaders without any out of gym appearances:
The old grass leader (Consequently my least favorite gym leader in the game, who even cared about him? Plus grass is a stupid easy type to counter), Valerie (who had a decent amount of build-up via npc's and a unique enough design to make up for it) and the Psychic Gym Leader (Who at least had a cool looking gym, even if the leader herself was nothing special.)
Viola has an appearance in the battle chateau.
Grant gives you an HM. I can't remember which one.
Korrina has a ton of development.
Clemont lights the eiffel tower (or whatever it's called in-game, I think we all know what it actually is) and talks to you before you go in.
You have to go get Wulfric out of the forest before you can challenge him.
The biggest problem I have with gyms is that there's such a massive gap between the first and second gym, that the game starts machine gun firing them at you so the game can end on time. There really shouldn't be very many towns where the only thing you do is challenge the leader and move on. Leaders like grant could have been great if I didn't just waltz into his town, go to the gym and leave. I mean the town has a bike racing track that you don't even get to use, they can't be a little more creative here?
I think the difficulty is just because exp.share makes it damn hard to not over level your pokemon, unless you turn it off for some inexplicable reason. I like the new exp. share, it just doesn't feel like the game was balanced around me having it.

I like to think that the Trainer is wearing flame resistant gloves or something while petting Fire Pokemon
If you put a litleo into amie (or similar pokemon like ponyta I assume) and touch its fire hair, you will get burned. So you're definitely not wearing gloves.

Petting Slugma is like Finn trying to get cuddly with Flame Princess.

If you hold a Rawst Berry when you pet it, will you not get burned?

Hm...

Got myself a shiny during an horde.... and it's a Shiny Stunky!

...yaaay?

people in GTS are out of their mind right?

i was looking for a sandshrew (just out of curiosity, i'm decided to capture one myself... when i find it). and there's loads of people asking for a Xerneas, Yvetal, Mewtwo and the ugly hexagonal slug...

WTF man?

This has been a thing for a while.
Kids just throwing up level 3 pidgeys and asking for legendaries, I suppose banking on either a hacker who decided to throw them a bone or a long, unfortunate chain of misclicks.

Hell yeah guys I'm so fucking kawaii! Post your characters here!

I just bred an Adamant Honedge with max HP, ATK, DEF, SDEF, and SPD IVs. That thing is going to wreck everything! The new breeding mechanics are amazing!

Edit: Just hatched the rest of them. Make it double!

Is it 50/50 when one of the parents is holding Destiny knot? In terms of both parents IVs? I've yet to find the item though.

19.png

Apparently his training as a fighter didn't prepare him for this.

I've saw some pokémon X streams on twitch.tv

weird thing is: the image and sound were PERFECT. both screens! just like he was streaming a pc game.

Is there a way to transfer 3ds image/sound to a pc? how do you make a 3ds recording/stream/screenshot?

(i miss my prxshot plugin from my psp when i see this stuff)

I heard that the customization for Male trainers is less so than the female trainers.
Is this true?
I hope not.

Well the "Dresses" option cannot be selected when you are a dude. I can only assume you can't select the "Pants" category as a girl. But if you can, well, I guess you can customize more as a girl.

You can choose pants as a girl, so yeah.

Gym Leader stuff

Okay so Viola's is after the gym and minor, Grant's might as well not even be there (seriously, we get told he's an amazing biker and we don't even get to race him? wtf?), Korrina da bess, Clemont only shows that he's a nerdy kid, which doesn't really help to get me hyped/intimidated for a battle with him, and Wulfric is okay, but could be better. Especially since he's the last gym leader. I mean he shows he has some character, but never shows how tough he is.
Also just realizing: None of the gym leaders have over 3 pokemon. I know they started this in Gen V, but seriously, what's the purpose? Unless it somehow fits their motif, there's no reason 6th gym leader and onward shouldn't have 4 or more pokemon. They're supposed to be the toughest trainers around, yet their team size shows they're about as stupid as your 3 friends.

You can choose pants as a girl, so yeah.

Why the hell can't I wear a dress, I want to match my darling Elizabeth (Gardevoir).

The girl also gets more hairstyles.

Pretty much. Here's a more in depth explanation.
The Destiny Knot randomly picks 5 stats. Then it grabs those IV stats at random from either parent (50/50 like you said). So if you have one with max Attack and Defense, and another with max Attack and Speed, you have a chance to get a Pokemon with max Attack, Defense and Speed. Of course, since it randomly chooses 5 out of 6 stats, you might not get the max Attack stat at all, even though both parents have it. But the Stats passed are different for each egg, so you will end up getting a good mix if you hatch enough.

So you basically have one parent hold an everstone to pass the nature you want, and have the other hold Destiny Knot to try and pass good IVs down.

And the Destiny Knot is found:
In the hotel in Cyllage City. You get it from a maid.

In comparison to the girl? Definitely. The guy still has plenty of stuff on his own, though. Just not as much as the girl.

Hell yeah guys I'm so fucking kawaii! Post your characters here!
This game needs the screenshot features that animal crossing has.
Actually, screw just pokemon, every game should have that stuff.

There's a (kind of expensive) way to mod your 3ds to record HQ video to your pc.

Breeding Stuff
So, if you raised a ditto with all max IV's, and weren't breeding a mixed attacker so you could disregard one of the attacking stats and you aren't using hidden power... You could produce a perfect pokemon of any species within like, 20-30 minutes.

Yup. Too bad you can't breed Ditto. It breeds with pretty much anything but itself! Makes you wonder, where do Ditto come from? O.o

I'm pretty sure they're failed clones of mew. They inhabited the island that the scientists that made mewtwo were on I believe. Plus they're the same weight, maybe the same height, and pink.

So lemme get this straight... In total, the parents COMBINED have 12 possible stats to pass down to the child. The Destiny knot, when held by one of the parents choose 5 out of those possible 12 (However each being a different stat (Passing down 2 Attack stats seems illogical)).

So let's say that both parents have straight 31 IVs in every stat. The child is GUARANTEED to have 5 stats that have 31 while the other has a large chance of being 31 because both parents already have 31 in that stat. Correct?

And just out of curiosity, could it randomly choose the 5 stats from a single parent?

and both can use transform

Yes. Yes. And Yes.

Yes. Yes. And Yes.

Excellent! Now I just need to get a ditto with perfect IVs :P Which I have on my Black and White, though can't transfer that over till later.

There's this (http://3dscapture.com/) which lets you hook up the 3DS to your computer via a usb.

Guys get significantly less clothing on top of all the male stuff looking really generic and same-ish compared to what the girls get. Not to mention girls also get more hairstyles.

The real question is, why can't you get a Team Flare outfit? They said it themselves, it's the very definition of stylish!

Another breeding question, if you have a power item on the mother and destiny knot on the father, and the mother has a perfect IV in the power item's stat and the father having all perfect IV's, the child will ALWAYS have perfect IV's, correct? Or is it possible for destiny knot to randomly choose the power item's stat and therefore leave one stat randomly generated?
Suddenly, getting perfect IV's is simple...

Wait, how did you get a ditto with perfect IV's?
Hacking? Trading with a hacker? Astronomically good luck?

On a somewhat related note, I always thought it was bullshit that they didn't let you join team rocket when they offer a position to you on nugget bridge.

Theoretically, that sounds amazing and would PROBABLY work. All you would have to do then is continue breeding for a perfect nature and you have your pokemon! Which I think takes far less time than getting perfect IVs so I hope that's the case.

And as for the ditto with perfect IVs, I used RNG manipulation to get a ditto with perfect IVs. It's not hacking, it's just taking advantage of how the game uses the time on the DS to create "Randomness". But yeah, completely legit otherwise.
