Pokemon

It's not too hard to understand. It's just when you go to apply the science that it becomes slightly confusing. Practice makes it a hell of a lot easier over time.

Like right now I'm breeding for perfect IV'd Clauncher because that BAMF needs to be on my team ASAP

Clauncher is awesome! His ability basically gives STAB to Pulse and Aura moves. And he's got great coverage since he gets Aura Sphere and Dark Pulse. Just give him a water move and he technically has 3 STAB moves with a huge special attack. I put Sludge Bomb on him just for coverage against Fairies.

Got a shiny Pumpkaboo just now. I feel all kinds of good right now.

The greatest part about breeding is starting. I literally have nothign to work with. I don't even have a single pokemon with the nature "Modest" and so far I've hatched 6 eggs with the Jolly nature. This is somethin else.

I just realized that the only way I'm getting pokemon from older games is getting that pokemon bank in December D:

But I want my shiny Banette now!

Is anyone's Friend Safari Fairy-Type here?

Ouch. That stinks. You should try to get a Modest Ralts or Abra. Once you have one, breed one till it gets its Synchronize ability. That way, if you use it to catch a clauncher, there is a better chance it'll be Modest. I only had to hatch three eggs to get my modest ralts.

How can we find out our type?

How can we find out our type?

I have no idea whatsoever. The only thing I'm thinking of is having people add each other check and post what they see.

Aaaand it's official! I have got EVERY Nature EXCEPT for Modest. I started keeping track a few minutes after my post because I felt suspicion and I was right! I just can't get a modest Clauncher through breeding. 60 something eggs later and still no modest? Come on...

So I think your method will end up being faster. I know where Ralts is so I'll go for that.

Oh eyah, the Safari Zone changes based on your buddies, right?

Yeah each of your friends safari's has 3 Pokemon of a certain type. They sometimes have otherwise hard to find pokemon in them as well.

It's a pretty good persuasion to add friend codes.

Everyone's safari only has 2 pokemon in it at first, the 3rd one will show up once that person beats the elite four.

I was thinking about team buildings, while following my casual/peasant mindset of "using what's fun/my favorites instrad of competitive monsters" BUT with enough horsepower to hold themselves for more than 6 turns in a battle. and like any 21st century digital boy, i'll post it here asking for opinions, even if i won't like them...

So first, my planned team for the first run

Delphox (started with her, she'll follow me till the end, then i'll give her a nice vacation)
Blastoise (thing's almost a literal tank! looks cooler mega-evolved than i think it would, too. add protect to the list and if you can status damage a foe you could just bleed him to death... i just need a move that does it. Scald, maybe?)
Pangoro (Coolest new gen pokémon till now. and his ability powers up punching moves. Dark gives him a little protection against psychic, so this one wil be mostly attack, speed and HP, power-up punching his way into glory)
Flygon (love the design of this one, and it can get some insanely powerful moves. just wish i could give levitate and get arena trap or hyper cutter back
Talonflame (same thing as delphox, but the flame body ability can be useful giving a parting gift to the foes)
Pikachu (i think i got the weakest pikachu of the world, this fella's damage is shameful. but i'll need it to breed a new one for the other team idea)

After i beat the game, in a "just for teh lulz" movement, i think i'll make a "pikachu-derivated" team, even if it's bad, it at least have a theme. so it'll be:

Raichu (no one loves the poor fatty fella)
Azumarill (marill was the first pikachu wannabe. and thick fat+rollout may give him some edge over the real deal)
Pachirisu (reminds me of a lovely hiperactive friend i have)
Emolga (to the sky! with the thunder! Thor's squirrel joins the battle! - still think it's ugly as a sin)
Dedenne (a mini raichu that haven't shaved it's whiskers)
anything other than plusle and minum. (still thinking about that part)

It's funny like you could do "generation evolution teams" with some basic ideas (the first rat-like thing, the first bird, the 3-stage bug, etc.) and see how the design choices evolved from gen1 to now.

Just found out that the Mega Stones for Houndoom and Aggron are only in Y. Ugh.....

Well time to beg my Y owning friends for them.

My planned team was quite different from my actual team. Planning a team never really seems to work out for me, honestly.

Planned:

Chesnaught
Blastoise
Female Meowstic
Pangoro
Heliolisk
Clawitzer

What Actually Happened:

Chesnaught
Blastoise
Male Meowstic
Talonflame
Aegislash
Zoroark

Just beat the game. Best Elite 4 ever or best Elite 4 ever? I thought so.
Long endgame thoughts:
It's so refreshing to see basic types like Fire and Water in the Elite 4 of a region filled with the types Gen V's Elite 4 had. Plus all the aesthetic stuff was absolutely gorgeous, and I liked the designs of the members themselves, who showed a surprising amount of character in just a few lines a dialogue. Little old lady as dragon master made me laugh. To make it moderately challenging I took all 4 on without any item use in between battles (on top of my constant never using items within battle rule). The only dissapointment was each of them having only 4 pokemon. Can't Gamefreak learn anything from Gen V's flaws? Oh, and the E4 music is FUCKING AWESOME!
As for the Champion, it was a genuine shock to see who it was, but now I wish she appeared more throughout the game to show you that she's cool/strong. Her team was decent, and I was pretty happy to see her use mega evolution. I just wish they had mega evolution as a regular boss thing by the end of the game. They could have easily had Wulfric mega evolve, since he seemed pretty close to his Pokemon. And Serena should've mega evolved in the final rival battle, since they said she went to train with the Mega Evolution Guru. Did she make zero progress?
And as for the post champion part, I didn't like it. First, the visuals were really ugly for no reason. Second, AZ was weak as shit. I was excited to fight him and see some crazy eccentric team, but nope, a small boring team that seemed to have no purpose. When I saw him having only 3 pokemon I expected them all to mega evolve. They really should have just given him a full team stronger than the champion's for one epic final battle. As for his Floette, the plot really didn't make me care much about their reunion. It might have been cool if his partner pokemon was a legendary and he battled you using it though.

We haven't talked enough about Sylveon.

We should fix that.

Okay. I kicked a Sylveon's ass today in a 'Multi Battle' against my friends.

Now that you have access to that new town, go do the battle maison (you can do just 1 battle and leave) and then go north of the town. I'll leave it at that.

I have high expectations. Don't dissapoint me.

Might want to invest in finding a Talonflame with Gale Wings Ability, gives its priority +1 on all flying attacks.

I heard someone caught a pikachu holding a light orb? Maybe look into that.

You REALLY want an Azumarill with the ability Huge Power. Azumarill has an abysmal 50 base attack stat and Huge Power will double that.

I have high expectations. Don't dissapoint me.

Maybe not set them too high, but it's something.

At least in Gen V they had a full team with items and a level increase after you beat them the first time. This time, they don't change at all.

Well the more times you battle Malva, the more pissed she gets at you. Does that count as a change?

Well the post-game Serena battle was what I expected in Victory Road, so I guess that's okay.

Her Mega Absol still died in 1 hit though

Oh look I found Gamefreak's PR person:

I feel like this Gen tried to introduce too many new things: Fairy type, Super Training, Pokemon Amie, trainer customization, sitting on benches and chairs, talking to people whilst sitting on said benches and chairs, roller skates, etc.

It was just too much too give extraordinary effort to any one thing. But at least what we got isn't all that bad (I say Super Training is one of the best things to happen to Pokemon ever).

Ok I've had enough of this.

Would someone like to trade a modest natured pokemon in the water 1 or 3 egg group PLEASE? I've been through 150 eggs and caught countless more and none of them are modest. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, please trade me a fucking modest pokemon.

THANK YOU! Lemme see if I can connect to this internet... Nope. I'll have to wait until I get home. In the meantime I will continue in search of the only modest pokemon in existence. Even if I have to travel across the entire planet, I will make it my life goal to get one somehow.

Don't forget to search, far AND wide.

Caught a Tynamo last night, heard the final Evo of this thing is a monster.

It was in 5th gen. Now...it's kind of wimpy looking in 3D. Power wise it's still a beast though, and it has no weaknesses.

Pokemon Special just started its X/Y arc this week. Amusingly, the protag names actually are X and Y. The best part though?

They gave X a Mega Kangaskhan.

Take a good look at that lower left panel. Babykhan is using Pyroar like a flail.
