Skullgirls Lore Speculation

Eliza probably thinks she's a god and should be worshipped like one.
I can just imagine if Eliza came to power and started her own religion with the parasites about how great and powerful parasites are, but she reigns supreme.
"As great pharaoh of the Parasite committee, as elected by me, I hereby decree that you all begin worshiping me." And the only ones there is that sarcophagus Samson and Leviathan in a cage or something

I recall something about Trinitism being the most popular religion (in the Canopy Kingdom?), but we can expect some smaller ones to be around, like everywhere. In particular I'm guessing other cultures like the gigan nation would have different worshipped deities.

important edit: since some people are liking this I'd like to remind that official lore has something a bit different, therefore this post might not have taken place at least completely. Keep that in mind

Okay I just got togheter a theory here

What if Eliza thought the Trinity Goddesses weren't gods?

Aeon and Venus were murdered by her in probably ancient times, with Mother/Lamia/Double(?) status unknown. Double of course hates her and Eliza states that "My reign and your fall are long overdue!"

First off, usually gods aren't supposed to die.

Secondly, here's how things could have played out:

A long time ago (like freakin' millennias) the Trinity once owned a kingdom (unknown place) were they were venerated like gods themself, but maybe not in an Egyptian way. In truth they weren't gods of course but just in possession of very powerful parasites (it's stated at least that Aeon and Venus do have them), but this is kept as a secret. The Trinity keeps acting like they were divine and in the meantime manage X kingdom well.

That is until a bitch Eliza, queen of Y kingdom (or maybe not) finds a skellington parasite that keeps her young if fed with blood.
At the time parasites aren't well known and Sehkmet tells Eliza about the Trin, with which she had affairs, and that they are perfectly killable. Eliza at the time is ambitious and as evil as now and decides to usurp the reign of the Trinity by overpowering Aeon and Venus and laying off Lamia, most probably in Sehkmet form or at least in part.
Eliza then sets up a tyrannical regime and fucks up everything as usual.

And that would explain why parasites are distrusted/hated although they were used by the Goddesses, because nobody knew of them.

And in all of it would fit Leviathan and Samson being henchmen for Eliza who would rebel at a later time, both being visible parasites. Eliza would then start to hate Trinitism because she knows the truth and thinks parasites are the real gods, and her Egyptian theme fits since she fused with Sehkmet in a way that she is one with her (at least that seems to be what Alex said) and probably thinks she became a god, although I have another theory on that.

TL;DR
Parasites are hated because Eliza (probably with the help of Levi and Sam) killed the Trinity.

Now it might seem a bit weak or imprecise in some points but I always wanted to write about this. Sorry for the wall of text.

I think it's stated in the canon info thread (from the Kai Kennedy/Beowulf report) that Eliza was one of Great Mother Lamia's top generals, she betrayed Lamia, killed Aeon and Venus, and took over. Eliza's reign as the Crimson Scourge explains why people hate parasites (at the time, Sekhmet wasn't exactly secret). We don't know whether or not the Trinity was exactly nice to Mankind at the time; based on Double, probably not.

Speculation: There was a human/anti-Trinity revolution, which Samson/Delilah legitimately helped and Eliza used for a power grab. We know the Crimson Scourge fell at some point, and Theons went into hiding and started being called Parasites. Reigning Theons were probably worshiped like gods while they lived (For darn good reason, given what Aeon, Venus, and even Eliza can do), so it would be easy for Lamia/now Double to co-opt the "old ways" into a new religion worshipping the same beings. Given how poor the current attitudes are towards Parasites, the Crimson Scourge was probably so bad that Aeon, Venus, and the Great Mother could be painted as martyrs who fell to Eliza's villainy.

Where the Skull Heart falls into all of this is kind of weird, given that Theons/Parasites somehow came from the Heart, but the Heart may have kick started the start of sentient life on the planet, so... I guess Mother Lamia was the first Being created after the Skull Heart fell to the planet, and it spawned Aeon, Venus, and lesser Theons, and eventually Ferals and Humans. This would explain why Double/Lamia/Mother are always connected to the Heart, moving it about and manipulating it, as well as why they'd want revenge upon all of humanity for their war against the reigning Trinity, Eliza, and eventually all Parasites.

Eliza wouldn't necessarily disagree that the Trinity are gods.... She'd just argue that they're three mostly-dead members of a larger, once glorious pantheon, and for this she'd hate the current religion. Hell, depending on her tenure as Lamia's general, Eliza might even legitimately believe she deserves to rule Mother's empire, thinking she (Eliza) did all the hard work and got her hands dirty while Lamia sat high and mighty, all beloved and worshiped by a race of fools. Then humanity rejected Eliza's "leadership," and she decided it's too much trouble showing them their "rightful place." Better to retire to a smaller, safer spotlight, and have a nice drink.

Eliza probably thinks she's a god and should be worshipped like one.

Why bother with the mythology themed attacks then? She obviously wants the ancient Egyptian Pantheon to be brought back into vogue, if she herself wanted to be worshiped she would shape her attacks into images of herself. It does seem like she does want to be worshiped alongside all the other gods, though.

Well, she comes from the Skullgirls equivalent of Egypt, so those attacks/references are, to Eliza, simply "little reminders of home." It's a theme she's comfortable with. She's a god, sure, but she's a god with backstory. Why does Thor use lightning for everything? Why is Amaterasu nature-themed, and why is Phoenix a giant fiery space-bird? Why does Hal Jordan make all his Green Lantern constructs into giant fists? Although the idea of Eliza fighting with little mini-versions of Eliza is pretty funny, it's like Superman's mini-Superman robots he shot out of his fingers back in the Silver Age.

Plus, except for the blood-kaiju at the very end of her story mode, modern! Eliza isn't actively working to be worshipped again. Sure, it's a casual desire, but otherwise being a popular diva has all the benefits of "godhood" without the responsibility of getting blamed for famines and having to put down the occasional revolution. Besides, her resources are limited, anyway; where's a girl going to find a giant pool of blood in this day and age?

Okay I went to check back that thread and damn have I missed on Kai's leaks about the story!

I always assumed Trinitism is the belief system of just the humans in the Canopy Kingdom.

And that Dagonians stuck to their reference origin and they believed in all-powerful ancient outer gods/space fish, some of whom may/may not be sleeping in the ocean.

Because She is the protector of the Nihon...?

This is a weird comparison, Ammy is the literal god of the sun both in the game and out of it.
I don't remember Amaterasu being a god that had domain over nature or anything else she had in that game. I could understand plant growth since SUN.

Point being...

Conjuration-based powers such as Eliza's or Green Lantern's are pretty much limited by the user's imagination, which in turn is limited by experience. Could Eliza make powerdrills and rebar and engine parts? Probably. But Eliza grew up in not!Egypt, and that's presumably where she learned how to fight, so that's the imagery she prefers to conjure. Likewise, Double's accustomed to manipulating the cast, so those are her preferred forms. You could almost say it's... habit.

While we're still on Eliza i was eating a danish when i thought about Sekh's winquote

"Your cells shall BETRAY YOU!!!"

Then i was like what the hell does that even mean? Does Sekhmet have a power she hasn't demonstrated yet? Or is that just a confusing way to refer to drinking blood?

It's a reference to Urien's win quote from SF3
Something along the lines of "Look, your cells have betrayed you and come to me!" or something.

its because sekhmet steals "cells." Pretty sure its just to avoid outright calling it blood. Also it makes slightly more sense for cells to turn into things than blood.

Also I don't know if that urien thing is right, cause he has magnet powers, I'm not sure why he'd say that. I know Gill says "the mark of my dignity will be scarred upon your DNA" or something though so maybe its possible.

The free patch in the latest eighty-sixed t-shirt sale got me thinking about the Last Hope.
Why do they call themselves the "Last Hope"?
We know they are from Lab 7. Canon info thread, what were the lab divisions again?
- Lab 1 and 2: Research labs which developed technology for the other labs
- Lab 3: Super soldier development
- Lab 4: Handheld weapon and vehicle development
- Lab 5: Specialised weapons
- Lab 6: Theonite research
- Lab 7: Medical/Drug research
- Lab 8: Synthetic parasites
- Lab 0: The secret lab. Research Skullgirl blood
More about Lab 7
Brain Drain was the only “successful” psychic soldier, meaning that the other psychic solders were unstable. The destruction of Lab 7 was caused by the instability of some of these soldiers. There is a particular psychic soldier which is relevant to the story right now which has not been named yet.
The ninja nurse squad is "Last Hope" because they are the last of Lab 7? Or, from revelations from Beowulf's story mode, perhaps they were a team formed during the desperate, dragging years of the Grand War? A last hope formed during the bleakest times of heavy losses? Valentine reveals that she, and perhaps the rest of Last Hope, were on the three-sided battlefield front lines. One can only imagine what it looked like. In the face of towering gigans from Gigan Nation and deadly war mages from Chess Kingdom, Canopy Kingdom assembled the last of their resources, Anti-Skullgirl Labs agents and innovations.

The Last Hope all wear uniforms bearing the red cross the magenta cross. In our world, the red cross/crescent is worn by medical personnel and others carrying out humanitarian work, to protect them from military attack on the battlefield. I wonder if the Last Hope were originally more nurse than ninja and sought a similar protection with their uniforms? From the medical/drug division of the Labs, maybe they fulfilled a more defensive role of saving patients rather than slaying the enemy. Maybe they are the Last Hope because they were all that stood between life and death for Canopy's forces? On that hellish battlefield, your last hope is a badass ninja nurse?

Seems to me this has some interesting parallels with general lifetime development:
  • Lab 1 and 2: Birth and development
  • Lab 3: Training
  • Lab 4: Acquiring skills and equipment
  • Lab 5: Finding a specialty and unique niche
  • Lab 6: Mid-life crisis, finding religion
  • Lab 7: End of life care. Last Hope
  • Lab 8: Hooking up the old body to a machine
  • Lab 0: Outside the lifecycle. Zombies, babies. Zom-babies.
Then again, I have an uncanny knack for seeing parallels where things are askew, so I could be off base.

Also, I think there are a lot of "Something Hope Hospitals" IRL, so Last Hope could just be a reference to those.

Something that i wanted to understand, like, Valentine, worked with brain drain on lab zero to make painwheel. was the last hope squad working with lab zero, or valentine was always more inclined to work on dirty things?

And more, how many labs were willing to cross laws and ethics, etc?

I mean, Lab 8 treat their experiments and people with some kind of respect and love. But lab zero is the opposite, maybe lab zero was more obscure in that aspect also, and the other labs were made by "good people".

Question about the Trinity: Why do they want to destroy the world/universe?

still love 'em doe

Why does Ghroth wants to destroy civizilations? Why does Shub-Niggurath?

Hey, at least Venus and Aeon are at least humanoid in figure. Those things...

Also, weren't they
Once human before they were killed by Eliza? You'd think they'd have more compassion for the Human, Gigan, Dagonian and Feral races...

Venus's Ab-adon (tummy teeth) and Aeon's hourglass thingy are Parasites/Theons, so they're probably about as "human" as Eliza. Over the ages, they've probably merged into single beings. As for why they want to kill everything? No clue. Bored? A greater mysterious plan of the Great Mother's for either vengeance or convoluted resurrection shenanigans? From the Indiegogo Character Profiles:
  • "Venus is the Trinity’s restless goddess of space, wielder of the otherworldly parasite, Abaddon. She grows tired of waiting for Mother’s plan and calls upon her unwilling foothold on the outside in a small act of rebellion. Her physical form is deceptive, as the true nature and size of Venus and Abaddon exist beyond the threshold of human comprehension."
  • "Aeon is the Trinity’s reclusive goddess of time who observes history from beyond this world. Using her Parasite, Khronos, she is able to manipulate multiple timelines, watching how they play out while snagging the occasional collectible. Is her appearance in the roster merely a phantom possibility from another timeline, or did she find the means and willpower to venture out of the comfort of her own home?"
So... that, Double screaming at Eliza for vengeance, and hints in the Canon Info Thread about Squiggles accidentally tearing a hole into their domain a few games down the line are pretty much all we know.

A good chunk of Nyarlathotep's masks are humanoid. Gleeth is probably humanoid. Humanoid is a very popular shape in these parts.

my favorite piece of speculative lore is centered on Umbrella
Her hair is supposed to be red, like her sister, but her connection to the skullheart is unnaturally turning her hair white. That's why its pink.

...are punk-ass bitches

M8 you talking 'bout Shub-Niggurath/Ghroth or Venus/Aeon?

Sorry if i'm just slow, but I just now noticed that Squigly noticed her power being stronger than "the last time"....BEFORE she noticed her mouth was stitched up, which she should've noticed first thing after she reawakened for the first time

I take this as a hint that Sienna could use a smaller form of her powers before dying?

Ugh, I hate using the "wiki" links.

I always wonder if some non-canon characters of Alex were to be considered canon in future projects.(those) Maybe it's an old question but this guy:
latest

latest
looks a bit like Leviathan, at least his heads.

It is to be kept in consideration that the drawings are pretty old, but still, if there was the possibility for Evil Samson back in the character vote, who knew about an Evil Leviathan?

Well, theons have potential to have god-like powers, so maybe those doodles are ideas for super-parasites? And I can't see Leviathan going evil. Of all the known parasites, he's the most human friendly, being past down generations of the Contiello family.

Squigly: The girl is becoming stronger as she loses herself to the Heart.
My own abilities weren't this strong before, either...
The scary part is how natural it feels.

Leviathan: To my shame, it appears that I cannot entirely block the Skull Heart's influence.

Either Lev is slippin' (less blocking = more power) or maybe Marie is a stronger Skullgirl than Selene. Perhaps a Skullgirl formed out of revenge is stronger than one formed from grief?

In any case, one must remember that Squigly revived immediately after her death 14 years ago and teamed up with Anti-Skullgirl forces like Big Band to take down her own mother. That's her point of comparison.

Yeah, evil doesn't seem to be the word. Either it's super parasites, or an evil Levi if you take this

and put it in the context of an alternate timeline where Levi has taken control of Squigly just like evil Samson did in said timeline.

For reference, this was his profile in the IGG voting:

This Samson walks a darker path than the one we know. Having chosen to serve himself and leave the rest of the world to its fate, he turned to the vilest method to overcome his reliance on hosts. Who knows if he is a trick by Double to mock the Parasite, or a relic from a lost timeline recovered by Aeon.

Hey mental wanking is my favourite

Nope nope nope. Marie has already been confirmed as one of the "weaker" skullgirls in the long line of skull ladies.

However,

Squigly did come in contact with Ab-Baddon when she awoke, which was that red snake thing that appeared when she woke up. THis has been confirmed to amplify her own powers.
