Shin Megami Tensei and Persona

New characters shown off in specific locations such as the Gaian temple and Mikado, the latter of which I find kind of surprising, I really doubt this game actually adheres to IV's storyline.

RE: Your friends experience with SMT 1. The gameplay is definitely archaic but I'd be interested to hear your friend's impressions of SMT II if they ever get to it.

He actually finished them both in succession. He said he preferred 1 over 2, despite the improved gameplay. I'll have to ask him for a more detailed report next time I talk to him, but I think it boiled down to finding the post apocalyptic setting in 1 more engrossing than the more fantastical cyberpunk future of 2, and the characters and atmosphere being more interesting.

My main issue with SMT1 is like

You have to shuffle through 5 menus just to get to the map.

Constant menues for basic things is tedious
I'm going to say something controversial tangentially related to this.

If IS combat was less menu intensive and the game was actually challenging in any facet that system would be undeniably be better than One More and they should try to bring it back at some point. Actual fusion spells are cool.

Daguza is voiced by fucking CHAR.

never been a guy who cared about dual audio, but maaaaan I kind of want it now.

Game deserved a remake. Maybe using Etrian Odisey's Engine.

SMT II as well.
3DS exclusive, Japan only because Atlus USA gives no fucks.

Come on Ruin, Don't be mean!

For first person exploration, Etrian Odisey works well, just like Strange Journey

What's the deal with "Q" anyway?

IIRC it's some sort of pun on the Japanese title of Etrian Odyssey.

So the tweet thing passed the first goal, Jack is down, Mermaid is up. Also the skulls apparently are part of her design. Lured sailors, maybe?

Maybe they were just floating by and stopped to admire the view?

Perhaps you haven't noticed but in video games disembodied heads are generally joyless assholes.

I dunno.

They seem like they're having a good time.

that's because they're skulls, not floating heads
skulls are cool dudes, but heads tend to be shitballs

I think that depends on what head you meet, what mood it's in, if there are any clones of it and if there's a body following it. Take these heads, for example:

What if they aren't dudes, but Skull... Girls?

Aw these are just okay for me. SMTIV's soundtrack as a whole didn't really wow me, so I wasn't expecting much when we found out the same composer is working on Final. I forgot his name.

I mean, SMTIV's soundtrack wasn't phenominal, but oh god, the initial boss theme gives me chills.

I liked the main theme and Masakados's battle theme. Not much else that was original got me, unfortunately.

Honestly I don't like IV's soundtrack in the sense I would ever listen to it, but I think it does a great job of emulating the atmosphere in the game.

This SMT x FE suit really is just Awakening with Idols.

So disappointing.

So my copy of Shin Megami Tensei IV is arriving tomorrow
Does anyone have any tips I can use to not suck at the game?

This video has some general tips that apply to most SMT games, including SMT4.
